This car is amazingly fun to drive: it has a ton of power

This car is amazingly fun to drive: it has a ton of power and torque, and handles like a sports car. I have the Wind AWD w/ Tech Package. The cabin is a good mix of touchscreen and physical knobs/buttons. The Meridian sound system provides fantastic audio. There is a lot of space with the rear seats folded flat.

My EV6 Wind AWD is great.

My EV6 Wind AWD is great. I love all the features and would consider a GT Line in the feature. However, I have 3 pet peeves. First, the autosensing wiper setting is inconsistent. Sometimes it will go on high speed for mist and at other time does not wipe a windshield full of rain drops. Second, the forward vehicle detection is also inconsistent failing to detect and stop regardless of having the highest distance set of 4 cars separation. This is especially true in curves or if cars depart suddenly from in front of you and the next car in front is very slow or at a full stop. Third and last, the auto parking sensor fails to detect parking spots and when it does, it's too slow to park. These 3 were true in the 2023 Niro Hybrid I had for a year. The surround camera view is, nevertheless, a great feature to for parking and to avoid damaging wheels when parallel parking. The Meridian sound system is superb.

This car is nice until you have a problem.

This car is nice until you have a problem. Neither the dealerships (we have tried two) nor Kia America can resolve mechanical problems and perform repairs in a timely manner. We have had two such issues in eighteen months and the dealer had the car four months one time. The second, we are still trying to get remedied after multiple attempts.

Don’t believe the charging specs - BUYER BEWARE

Promises made, promises broken. That’s how I would summarize this vehicle. Kia promises 11kW charging at home to achieve about a 6.5 hour charge. Perfect for overnight charging at your utility’s cheaper rate, right? Somehow, they managed to mess up the charging system which uses a CCS charging port, technology which has been around for 10+ years. The car can’t handle the heat generated by the charge rate and it shuts off after about 1.5 hours. Their fix? Software that throttles back the charge rate to about half depending on the temperature. No more charging in 6.5 hours! And forget “fast charging” on long trips. 0-80% in 18 minutes is the claim. NEVER going to happen. If the temperature problem doesn’t shut you off in 10 minutes, you’ll charge at somewhere between 60-110kW. Bring a book. Pack a sandwich and some games. Set up cornhole with your friends. You’ll be waiting and waiting and waiting.

Awesome vehicle

I’ve put 90,000 miles on my EV-6 GT-Line RWD in a little over 16 months in a rideshare role. No mechanical problems. No software problems. No battery life problems. It is an awesome machine on the outside but at its core, elegantly simple to drive and maintain. My biggest complaint? The AC/radio control panel is too small. Double check when you poke the panel to make sure you didn’t turn the wrong thing on/off. Things I’ve learned and how to overcome them: -USE MAX REGENERATIVE BRAKING. It can add north of 20% extra range in stop and go city driving. If you are racing, turn it off… but do you really race? It feels a little strange - ok, so did weightlessness to Apollo astronauts - get over it, it’s part of EV driving. -Yes, the battery does not like cold. Range is reduced by 30-40% below 30 degrees F. This is consistent with all EVs. If “battery preconditioning” does not appear in the EV page of the master menu (select EV, then select setup cog) get your dealer to upgrade your software. Learn how to use. -Yes, it is a challenge to find chargers. Download PlugShare app for help locating chargers and buy a Tesla charger to J1772 adapter for charging emergencies and keep in the frunk. -If you keep turning on seat fans/seat heat by accident, pull the fuse for seat heat. -If you plan to charge at night, bring a flashlight, because someone forgot to illuminate the charging port (light goes right in your eyes). -If you stow things under the trunk floor, pool noodles will keep stuff from rolling and banging around. -Be aware that just like your gas car, the 12V battery can run out if you leave things on, and that you cannot start the car with a 12V battery that is too low. I had to call AAA once for a jump start to get the EV running. Once on, the big battery charges the 12V battery, buy a little 12V jump start gadget and keep in the trunk under the floor, just in case. Now, go get one and have fun.

Favorite Car After Some Early Hiccups

2022 Wind with Tech - 13,000 miles. Owned car for 15 months - early worries due to couple of infant mortality issues and several trips to the dealer (total of 5 weeks out of service). However that was a year ago now and no problems experienced since. Much prefer driving this car compared to my others present and past. Fully enjoy the tech and safety features. Comfort and convenience elements are well engineered. Performance is superior given the weight and size of this car. Battery capacity is more than sufficient for daily use and range is better than advertised. Battery capacity has not diminished in mixed city/hwy/hot/cold weather driving. I intend to keep this car full term.

Car has problems & Dealerships don't care.

Every day use of the vehicle is about average. I do not recommend the vehicle since the price is above average. Kia does not seem to know or care about electric vehicles just yet. One of their selling points is the quick charging capabilities. Yet, after several months of my charge getting interrupted and me providing my own troubleshooting Kia put out a "bandaid" software fix. It now takes about 9.5 hours to charge. My vehicle also experiences interruptions with the USB connections, which makes any use of the cell phone extremely frustrating and difficult. The dealership service center was extremely unhelpful and pretty much dismissive of the issue. I will not purchase another Kia due to their extremely poor customer service. As far as the car goes though, it is about $15k overpriced.

Major Electrical problems.

I have own the vehicle for just over 6 months. Major electrical problems the EV6 has been sitting at the dealership for 3 weeks now, waiting for the corporate Kia engineer to fix it. The Kia app told me to pull the car over, and have it immediately to the dealership. I actually feel the car may have some major electrical problems. I am worried that the vehicle may turn of when driving on the highway, I am going to claim it as a lemon.

EV6 AWD is a BAD navigator. And that ain’t good.

The plastic fender skirt damages easily if parked close to standard height parking barriers. The navigation system is so bad I have to use my mobile phone to navigate. I’ve been misdirected multiple times and on 1 occasion had to be towed to a charging station after a misdirect.

Worth the wait for a well-designed EV

I have owned my 2022 EV6 (Wind trim-AWD) for a month. I really love the car so far - it is comfortable, stylish, and chock full of convenience and safety features that make me really enjoy road trips. I waited nearly three years to find an electric car that had the features I wanted (including physical controls rather than handling tasks through a touchscreen), and this car has really done the trick. Believe the hype - this is a fun and well-designed car. Also - it has been a very good performer in the several times I have taken it out in snowy weather; the "snow" driving mode is nice.
