Best SUV that I have ever driven
I'm really happy with my CX-5. I have owned (and rented) numerous small and medium size SUVs over the years, and this has been the most comfortable, and the best looking too. I have the 2016.5 Grand Touring version, and the leather interior has a nice upscale feel to it. The infotainment system does take a while to get used to, and there is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it, it is fantastic. The GPS graphics are really great, and in 3D mode, it shows the buildings (In large cities) and mountains. Only downside is it does not show live traffic on the maps, but I've read that the system will eventually be upgraded via a software patch to allow carplay and android auto, but that might be some time from now. Overall, I'm very happy with the car.

A CUV that might not bore you to sleep
After 30,000 miles I can say I'm happy I chose the cx-5 out of the crowd of compact CUVs out there. It has been 100% dependable, having only minor issues with the infotainment system when it needed a software update. I am currently averaging 26 mpg overall, which is pretty amazing for an all-wheel drive vechile that does an awful lot of driving in the mountains. The exterior looks sporty and though it's certainly not the fastest vehicle on the road(my 2016 has the sport mode on the transmission which does make a difference to help alleviate the issue) it's a lot more fun to drive thanks to the engaging and sharp handling than the rest of the boring vanilla crossovers on the road. The interior could use a could minor tweaks that could greatly improve functionality and the overall experience(at least for my lifestyle) 1) tie-downs in the cargo area. 2) get rid of the carpet in the cargo area. What's the point? It just makes things difficult to clean. 3) Allow the rear glass to open separately from the hatch. No new cars have this feature and I don't understand why. It's probably the single most useful feature my Toyota Matrix had. I could fit things 10-12 ft long in that tiny car thanks to the opening glass. It would be a complete game changer for this car during trips to Lowes for remodeling supplies. Overall this car is fun, loaded with safety features, efficient, and fairly functional. All while still remaining relatively inexpensive when compared to similarly equipped competitors. If you're going to buy a CUV, do yourself a favor and don't count out this Mazda without rest driving it first.

Most fuel efficient car I've ever owned
Looks nice, rides great. This car is comfortable, simple, and very practical. Gets hybrid-like gas mileage without the fuss and moves very nicely when sport mode is enabled. Handles like a car, not like a typical SUV. Long drives are a breeze. Fold down seats make rear storage quite large for such a small SUV. Great sound out of the Bluetooth sound system.

Reliable but not the most comfortable seats!
This is a great reliable car for the most part but it is not perfect. The seats could use some help and also it is a little but stiff from a suspension stand point.

Beautiful car its great gas mileage
So happy that I bought this car. I enjoy it more every day. I was initially going to buy another Subaru, just because that is what you do in Oregon. So glad that I didn't. Totally BLAH compared to the CX5. Consistently Averaging 29.3 and I get as much as 33-35 mpg on my daily hwy 101 travels. Bought the dark grey GT. and it doesn't show the PNW winter dirt. Handles so nice. Got it in January and took it to Canada, encountering every horrible weather situation possible back and forth.Handled like a dream, and the safety features saved me in several situations of non existent visibility from semis streaming the storm's torrents of water. Such a pretty car, inside and out. Traded in a brand new Rogue, who's seats were killing me. I find these seats perfect and fully comfortable for myself, with a lot of major pain issues. Gave up up the power rear door and birds eye view camera of the Rogue. I can regrettably live without the power rear door, but you don't need the birds eye view camera with the CX5 because you don't have all the excess ugly useless metal of the Rogue to get in your way. You can see over the hood in this. Love the small steering wheel and the automatic windshield wipers are wonderful. I can carry more in the back of this with my rear seats up than I could in the Rogue. Sometimes I can't connect to Pandora and I hate that. The navigation takes some getting used to. You need to look at the map choices of the route that the car presents. The steering and CRV tranny on the Rogue were junk. Sloppy ride with no power. Spent my time with the Rogue repeatedly driving back and forth to the service department four hours away for MAJOR suspension issues. Not one problem withe CX5. CX5 drives so effortlessly. Hugs the road. The radar cruise control is excellent. I use it more and more because of my pain issues and it is spot on. The lights that turn with the steering are awesome. I am so happy with this vehicle and I highly recommend it.

My first Mazda. not my last.
what a surprise was this vehicle. i had the oportunity of comparing the cx5 with hyndai suv, nissan, honda, kia, acura, and ford at the auto show. all lined up almost side by side, and there was no comparison in any aspect. once you sit behind that wheel there is not better feeling. bought it and have being the best vehicle i have owned. cx5 gt 2106.5 black. feel and finish are top notch and driving it will make you smile, very responsive steering. quiet cabin. adequate engine power, will never let you down but it is not the stronger engine in its class. transmission must be the highlight of this vehicle, smooth and not cvt.

Exceptional gas Mileage!
I have owned my CX-5 for just under a year. This vehicle drives like a small car in that it is very pinned down. Almost no body sway. It is very stable and feels very sporty!. This vehicle has exceptional gas mileage. Keep it under 70 MPH and you will see 31-33 highway. Compare that to the 19 MPG you get in a highlander or Pilot etc... I have the Touring edition yet I find these seats to be less then what you would expect at this trim level. Perhaps for a base model but not the Touring. They just feel cheap but not everyone will agree with me there . Here is something to be aware of (you too Mazda) These infotainment centers are consistently problematic. One issue after another. Just a quick search on the internet will confirm im not alone here.
