The little diamond in the Rough
Had only ever driven trucks until neighbor offered up her 2001 Miata for sale. Now drive truck AND this beautiful fun, reliable little convertible all over town. Couldn't be more pleased or more surprised at how much joy a little car can provide. Will never go without one now!

Cheap, reliable, and always a blast to drive
I got my 2001 MX-5 LS a few years ago to use as a daily driver and a fun weekend car and it's served both purposes admirably. It's a 6 speed manual and is so much fun rowing through the gears. It's not the fastest car but that's not the point. The handling is subliminal, it goes where you want it to go without thinking about it. It was fairly cheap to buy, has been quite reliable, and cheap to operate. It's pretty noisy with the top up or down so it's not a good long distance highway car. It does 95% of all the things I could ask of a car - I have a SUV for road trips, camping, snow/offroad, towing, & transporting the dogs. Around town or on twisty mountain roads it put's a smile on my face every time! I think the NB Miata is the best of the bunch because it's so simple and analog like the original NA version but it's a little larger & more powerful with more features than the NA with not much more weight. The NA pop-up headlights are cool but as someone who always drives with my lights on (it's good to be VISIBLE in such a small car) the NB doesn't sacrifice aerodynamics/drag or noise. The body reminds me of a 2/3 scale Jaguar XK. I'd recommend an NB Miata to anyone under 6' tall. I'm 5'9" and it would be too tight if I was much taller.

Lots of fun for not a lot of money
I really enjoyed this car. I put 30K miles on it over 6 years and never had a problem. Wished it was a little more powerful but you can have lot's of fun with it without tickets, if you want. Plenty of room for a giant go kart.

Best car I ever owned
Bought new in 2001. Have 94000 miles now. replaced the radiator, and the fuel pressure regulator. Always used Mobil one extended mileage. I use a K&N air filter. Six speed manual. I always get 38 miles per gallon on the highway at 70 mph. Beautiful sky blue car. I still love my Miata after 19 years of use. Would love have the 30th anniversary model!!!

Solid Running vehicle and great gas mileage
Great value for the condition. Runs Smooth and Mechanically Sound. Brakes are solid. Engine strong. Manual Transmission shifts quiet and smooth. Air Conditioning blows very cold. Heat blows hot. No overheating issues.

Very dependable except has timming belt expensive
Love this car with the exception of the timing belt. This was replaced with a chain which would make it better in 2005. Handles great, great mileage, great convertible top, Mine has 170,000 miles on two timing belts. Original owner.

Great fun convertible.
This is a fun car to drive for daily driver or weekend adventures. Low head room getting in/out of car is the only drawback. Once you're in, there is plenty of headroom.

Pure fun
Drove mine for 150,000 miles before I decided to move on. It will handle through anything like a champ. I will miss it forever... Until I get another Miata

It is true this car will put a smile on your face
I've owned my Mazda since new and it is as fun to drive now as when it was new. The handling of this car is just unbelievable for the price. You can take curves at speeds you would not expect. The balance and feel through the turns and on the road is excellent. The shifter throw is short and smooth. The 6-speed manual keeps the ratio steps tight and excellent for curvy two lane blacktop. Every time I get in this car and drive with the top down it never fails to deliver a great time on the road.
