    Mercedes Benz 230 1980 Euro specs

    Rare gas Mercedes W123 1980 euro specs with original low 69 K mileage. I have left it with original paint so that the next buyer shall see “ beauty is skin deep”. With new paint the price is not less than $15000. You can also see the ad on Craigslist lynchburg VA.

    Love it so much I bought it twice.

    I have owned and driven two black/black 1993 190Es, each one for 10 years. LOVE this car so much I bought it twice. It looks great inside and out ? still impressive for such an old car. People still comment on the condition. A couple years ago, someone pulled me over to ask if I wanted to sell it. No way! Great visibility, tons of storage space. The front seat folds back far enough to move 6-ft sections of lumber. ("That's not gonna fit that in there." <wry smile>) You name it, I've moved it. It takes a while to get up to speed, but when it does, great for cruising. On the down side, service and parts are expensive. If you own this car you need a mechanic you trust. The auto doors, windows and sunroof motors wear out after a while. The car likes to "creep" forward on its own, so in stop & go traffic, the brakes take a beating. Not crazy about the gray panel on the outside ? wish it was all black.

    A VERY RELIABLE VEHICLE

    Great gas mileage and excellent performance and a solid history of safety features. It was one of the best vehicles ever built by Mercedes Benz

    The classiest one here!

    I bought a '93 2.6l after its 20th birthday, with 130k miles on the clock. Even though I've had to do a lot of work to catch up with missed maintenance of the previous owner, I have enjoyed all my time with this car. Mercedes designed this as a small car with the quality of the S-class in mind, and it shows. Not only does it bear great familial resemblance to the fanciest of this era's cars, it rides like and feels as solid as a luxury full-size. My passengers are always surprised when they settle into an old car and experience how new it feels! I have received many compliments on its appearance, including being told it was "the classiest one here" at a casual cars & coffee meetup. The car has the safety and creature comforts of a car 15 years newer, as these were very ahead of their time. The suspension gives a comfortable, if not overly sporty ride, and holds the road like a train even around tight corners. The big window area gives driving visibility that make new cars seem like bunkers. The ABS brakes haul the car to a surprisingly quick stop when a deer or inattentive driver pulls out. The engine's power is well above adequate, making merging and passing a cinch. The build quality is incredible, and it doesn't show its age despite the abuses of CA sun and IL snow and salt. The MB-Tex "pleather" interior looks like brand new, and lasts forever even on abused cars. My mechanic even complimented how tight and solid the doors feel as they shut! The one upgrade that is almost necessary is switching to Euro-spec lights. The US-DOT lights are far too weak, hamstrung by the draconian laws of the time. Grabbing a set of aftermarket Euro-spec (or even used Euros, as I did), will really light the way! The one word of caution is that you will want to find a trustworthy mechanic. The dealerships charge outrageously for parts and labor, and the 6-cyl engine WILL require a head gasket within its life (due to use of incorrect coolant!). Find a good non-dealer mechanic, and buy your own parts, and repairs are as affordable as any other "normal" car. With the right care, you'll net a few hundred thousand miles on this car. 190Es in junkyards rarely have less than 250k on the clock!

    Quality, quality, quality

    This car was a serious effort from MB to make a small car that was as good as their large ones, and it shows. There are a myriad of thoughtful touches all around from being able to open the hood fully vertical to the way the jack is designed to fit into specific holes in the body. Interior design is perfectly subtle. All the controls are straightforward, and you can see all the guages without looking away from the road. Gauges at a minimum include speedo, tach, oil pressure, engine temp., and fuel. All the interior controls work with a nice solid "click" feeling even after 17 years on the road. Outside, I highly recommend upgrading to the euro-spec halogen lenses. Much better light output and also how the car was originally supposed to look! 4-wheel disk brakes are a rarity on cars from this era, and the 5-link suspension is so brilliant even Mercedes is still using it. Also, airbags and ABS and crash test ratings (same as the era S class) are all unusual for cars from the early nineties/ late eighties. Engines are smooth and competent, if not "quick," but the car is rock-solid at speeds above 100mph even. MAKE SURE to get one that is in reasonable mechanical shape. Parts ARE more expensive than a similar-year Japanese or American car, but not outrageously so. For the extra money, you get much better quality, much better design, and much better durability. Get a vehicle with less electrics for better reliability-- the 80s/90s are getting older and older, so more mechanicals are easier to deal with. Highly recommended.

    Great car

    Overall, this is a great vehicle. Even in the lake effect snow of PA the car handled great and went like a tank through just about anything. Gas mileage is so-so. The real downside to this vehicle is the expensiveness of the parts. Head gasket went at 186K and the repair cost was way over the value of the vehicle. Pure tragedy.

    Bring It Back!

    Beats the C class, hands down. Safe, comfortable, reliable.Well engineered, classic Benz exterior line. ~24mpg highway and gridlock city driving combined. $1200-1800/year maintenance/repair (132k miles). Not a spot of rust or break in the interior anywhere.

    BEST BUY FOR $2000! I FEEL LIKE I STOLE IT!

    JUST BOUGHT A 90 2.6 AND AM IMPRESSED WITH THIS CAR! LOTS OF FEATURES INC. 4 WHEELS ABS, SRS FOR DRIVER, GOOD ECONOMY, GOOD POWER, GREAT RIDE! FEELS LIKE IT WEIGHS MORE THAN 2900 POUNDS! IF YOU CAN FIND A LOW MILEAGE ONE THAT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BUY IT! HAVE IT INSPECTED JUST TO PROTECT YOUR SELF. GOT MINE FOR $1900! SOME MINOR COSMETICS NEEDED BUT WHAT THE HEY! ENJOY!

    Great First Car

    We have had this car for about five years and has been past down through three kids as their first car. Minor repairs here and there, mostly wheel re-alignment. I don't really like the way it looks, but it's the best looking of the older Mercedes.
