Explore the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Great power, terrible AC & suspension

I have a 2006 Eclipse GT and love it, but it's near the end of its life so I wanted another. I got this 2009 with 80,000 miles. Fantastic car, great acceleration. Supposedly it was "Certified", but in my test drive I noticed the A/C light wouldn't stay on. I asked the dealer to fix it. He said A/C worked, but light did not. That's wrong. Module was bad. Worse, Mitsubishi discontinued and offered no solution, so I had to get one from a junk yard. Also, Right Rear Strut was improperly installed (dealer's fault, not car), and after a few months the left rear strut was also bad. Not the worst thing that can happen, but it's loud when I hit bumps. Anyway, the exterior design is dated, but the 3.8L engine is still terrific (accelerates very well off the light, even though this car weight 2 tons). That's the primary reason I bought a second one. They discontinued the GT about 10 years ago, but you can get them dirt cheap, however do NOT buy one of the ones with the smaller engines, they have no acceleration and there is no reason to get one. Oh, another thing. My 2006 is orange. Great color, but notorious for having the clear coat peel and bubble (skin disease). It costs over $5k to get it repainted with the same dealer color, and $2,500 to get it painted a stock color, so beware of the orange Eclipses.

Great little sports car.

I love my Mitsubishi. The only issue I have is due to its size, its got a lot of blind spots but otherwise its been a great car . It has virtually needed nothing throughout the 70 k miles Ive owned it other than regular maintenance like tires, oil etc. Nice looking, running, dependable car.

This car is reliable, fast, comfortable and fun.

The eclipse gt has been a pleasure to own. Has never given me any problems. It's fast. Beautiful eye candy. The exhaust sounds amazing. Too bad Mitsubishi no longer makes these.

Most reliable car I have ever owned.

This car met all my needs. The driver's seat is very comfortable and roomy. It has a lot of space for a couple. It's fast. Sticks to the road and it is a lot of fun to drive.

Super Reliable Car

This car is by far one of the fastest cars I have ever driven. It will suck you back in the seat when you press the gas pedal and is a blast to drive. I have owned two Eclipses so far and they have never given me any issues or required anything other than routine maintenance. It's a shame Mitsubishi stopped making them.

Head turner sports car.

Good for city driving and smooth on the road. The best car I’ve ever own. It has a nice adjustable trunk space. I once bought a huge frame & was surprised that it fits in this car. Back sits are relatively spacious compared to other sports car.

Solid Car, but cant keep up with the modern car

Car is pretty solid overall. I enjoyed driving it around town, but on long cross country trips becomes a bit uncomfortable. I will say for the price its a fantastic car, but its a bit underpower performance wise compared to similar or other semi performance cars esp in the launch. And dont get me started on having 3+ people in the car. The car feels like its being dragged down considerably. Overal fantastic car to drive, but would definitely recommend some aftermarket.
