Expensive To kleep & Unreliable

I had this car for many years, and things went wrong with it that ordinarily should not: frame rotted apart twice (dealer knew of this and tried preventative measures), gas tank rotted, filler pipe rotted, oil pan rotted, transmission pan rotted and ultimately failed the entire car. The engine ran well, and there was plenty of power in the 2.0 engine and my manual 5 speed. This was the OZ Rally model, though there is really little difference in that as opposed to the regular model. Parts are not cheap, and I had to drop a gas tank to get at an emissions sensor, so design was not the best. Car is roomy and comfortable to ride and drive. Somewhat noisier than average, but still acceptable. At least it had power windows and power mirrors, decent trunk space, but the many repairs and the rotting away of the car make me tell others that this one may not be for you. Mileage was decent, combined mileage near 30. Shifting was good till the leakage in the transmission caused it to fail, and ultimately junk the car over. Not sure I am interested in any future Mitsubishi purchases after this one. Maybe they got better, but if this model is offered, I'd have it inspected real good before purchase.

15 years together and counting.

I bought this car June 2003. I was 21. My first car purchase. It was a leased car prior. Leased by only one person. It was the ONLY car I test drove. I was sold the second I sat in it, and I've never regreted it. I get sad knowing someday she will not be able to continue on. I refuse to sell her. I will keep her forever. Perfect car. Reliable. I will drive her until she can drive no more. 160k miles, 16 yrs old. Only had a few minor regular replacements. Spark plugs, O2 sensors twice. The a/c fan twice. And cat converter only because of Mitsubishi suggested recall around 2009. <3 I love this car more than words can describe. And yes, sometimes it's weird still driving the car my 21-yr-old self bought and I'm now 36. No car payment. Best decision ever.

Wow! Perfect car for around town, freeways and easy to find parking spots! Cheap on gas, just love everything about this car.

4.3

Best car I have owned.

This car is the best car to have as a first car. It's very reliable, performance is excellent, stylish, and size good enough for a mini road trip.

Lancer OZ Rally outlasts Expectations

I bought my 2002 Mitsu Lancer OZ Rally in November 2001, the first model year for the car. It now has over 200,000 Miles on it 16 years later, and still looks and runs amazing. I feel confident it will still outlast cars half its age, bring on the Civics and Corollas! I have maintained the car myself, since it turns out the engine is so easy to learn on and everything has been so easy to get to. There have been the expected failures/changes of Radiator (Using Rad#3 now), Spark Plugs, Batteries, Vale Cover Gaskets. All of these things lived as long as they could before they needed to be changed, as expected for a 16 year odl car with 200 K miles. My car still looks great, doesnt rattle or buzz. It still feels like its only 5 years old.

The Car That Won't Quit

This car is so reliable its crazy. For my first car its amazing. Easy to maintain and work on yourself

A great light-duty economy car

You're not going to tear up the pavement in a Lancer, especially not a base model Lancer, but it's a great economy car nonetheless. I've had mine for about 15 years now and routine maintenance has been more than enough to keep it road-worthy.

Great car

It is compact and has a lot of power for a small engine. It is a gas saver, which is good for someone who loves to drive..
