I love this car.

I bought my 1999 996 in early 1999. I love the styling and it drives like a dream. A daily drive for me these days with 85000 miles. The clutch was replaced after 50000 miles and I have the oil changed every 3000 miles. My mechanic has been taking care of it for over 20 years now. I asked about the IMS issue and am told there is no evidence of any problem. If you stay ahead of maintenance you will have the best automobile you could ever own.

Nicest pre-owned Carrera Cabriolet’s I owned

Birmingham Imports advertises this car exactly to what it was. 1999, 23,000 miles in VGC condition. And a hard to find hard top. The sales process, being from Scottsdale, AZ went smoothly.

Blast to drive, great daily driver

I've really enjoyed this car. But be careful on your purchase, to be sure all the required maintenance is up to date, including the needed IMS Bearing retrofit. Don't be fooled, you will spend around $22k for 996 that is in solid working shape.

lament

Like scorpion from Arizona I bought a 356b used b eat up. Rusted heater boxes replaced, tried to restore it. Got it running and sold it. No money. Tried again with a 912 what a thrasher. Tried a used 911 1999, loved it, but the IMS was always in the back of my mind. I would check the oil constantly. If Porsche would have replaced that part for cost the 1999-2004 would have been bullet proof. I have my memories and like scorpion photos. If I win the lottery, brand new turbo coming to daddy.

A Dream Come True: Be Careful What You Wish For!

A very sexy ride, ..but. A very stiff and rough ride. Every crack, or bump, or tar stripe on the pavement will be felt and heard. I can't imagine and won't try a "road trip" in this car. For those, we'll take the DeVille! That said, the car is fulfillment of an adult lifetime of "someday" dreams.

a classic car to drive

a wonderful weekend drive. The tight feel and handling of a porche, nothing like it" a new hands free stereo system. You can manual shift as well.

Amazed

This car handles well! The engine is quiet. Great car overall. I would recommend this car to anyone. It’s a classic vehicle and still very efficient on gasoline.

Very reliable, plenty of power, great handling

A Very Fun car to own. the 1999 911 doesn't have the IMS bearing failure that the newer models had from 2000 to 2006 because Porsche changed over using a single smaller IMS bearing that sometimes failed, the 1999 has a dual row (two bearing set). The handling is great, you feel in control and comfortable driving on canyon roads. The engine produces 300 HP pushing this car 0-60 time in 4.7 seconds & a 1/4 mile in 13.2 seconds.
