First Car Bought Out Of College

Specifically, I bought a 2017 RAM 1500 Rebel with the Premium Package that was Certified Pre-Owned from a dealership with a little over 30,000 miles. While I am happy with the truck overall as it is my first one out of college, it is not the dream car I thought it would be. The powertrain is outdated as the HEMI V8 does not pack nearly as much power as it should, as is shown by it having one of the slowest 0-60 times out of all full-size light duty trucks, and the transmission is very clunky especially when at low speeds. The MPG is rated fairly high with the Eco-Mode, but driving in Maine at its highway speeds (70 MPH) kills any MPG down to around 15.7 on the highway. The Air-Suspension Lift Kit is cool when you first get it and see it in action, but because it really only changes by a few inches from the highest and lowest setting it is practically worthless unless you are picking up older folks who have a hard time to get into a truck, and I would much rather just have solid lift kits put on the off-road model RAM 1500. The best thing about RAMs is that they are dirt cheap compared to other full-size trucks, which is why I was able to afford it straight out of college, but I will definitely be trading it in within the next 2 years to upgrade to something that is at least the best in some category, not be mediocre in every category like the RAM 1500.

2017 Ram has been back for recalls and break downs

I think if I knew a good Lawyer I would have looked in to the Lemon Laws. My truck only has 23k miles and at least 500 of them are from going back for recalls and warrantied break downs. I’ve owned 5 or 6 Rams Since 2007. But this is my last. I paid 38k for truck in 2017. It’s now 2years old and The dodge dealership where I purchased all my trucks will only allow me 16k trade in Value and it is a flawless truck and I still owe $28k on it. Check what a one year old vehicle trade in value is before you leave $12k in the parking lot as you leave. Dodge has the worst resale value I’ve ever seen. So why would you by another. I like a new vehicle at least every 2 years. I expected to lose 3k trading in so often. Not $12k.

Great truck in every way

Excellent look, feel and sound. I would recommend this truck over any previous truck i've driven including Silverado and F150. Plenty of torque for hauling and get up and go for freeway passing.

Built my dream truck

I love my truck. Base models can be had for fairly inexpensive, and bolt on upgrades are numerous. The Hemi is the most responsive engine of the Big truck brands stock, and also sounds the best. Ram also has the best ride of all pickups due to the suspension system.

Deceivingly spacious

At 6’6”, finding a truck, let alone ANY vehicle, I fit in is a challenge. Previous vehicles were a suburban and 2 F250 Super Duty pickups. I first drove a Ram in Maui and was thoroughly impressed. Plenty of head AND leg room. I don’t feel like I’m driving a go kart. The dial shifter takes some getting used to, but isn’t a big deal. The center console/arm rest/jump seat feels big and spacious. This truck is super easy to drive, almost like a car.

Nicest truck I have ever owned

Perfect!!! Beautiful, luxurious, comfortable and economical. This truck will do everything I want. It will be just as nice hauling a load as it will be driving around for a night on the town.

Love my Ram 1500 Rebel edition

I wanted tgw Rebel edition as soon as I saw it and finally bought a new one back in 2017. To date, it has not let me down and is my favorite truck I've ever owned. The only issue i had was with the airbag system which had to be calibrated in order to level the front of the truck. This seemed to be a common occurrence with these systems but I found an after market company that makes leveling links which finally resolved the leaning issue.
