Lag? Not in the ones I test drove or XE I bought

First, regarding what the "expert" notes as transmission lag, the Outlook I just purchased doesn't search for the right gear. It shifts transparently under most driving. When pushed, the transmission kicks down effectively and you are on your way. With the electronic shifting, GM engineers seem to have worked out the kinks. The handling is very good. It provides a smooth ride overall, with nice acceleration. Further, the styling is top notch, comparable to the Acura or Volvo SUVs. The interior has a very nice appeal. It doesn't appear cheap, with exceptional fit and finish. Seats adjust easily and give good access to rear seats. Interior also feels spacious. I am 6'5" and don't feel claustrophobic inside the vehicle, something I have found in very few vehicles. With the 5 yr/100k mile warranty and general build quality, I am not worried about the long term. It seems like it will hold up well. (In my opinion, whether you like Saturns or not, there quality is pretty good. Think about how many of the first generation Saturns are still on the road in great numbers.)

What's with the stationary protruding headrests?

Really like the vehicle, but the stationary protruding rear headrests hit my 6'3" kids right in the back and are very uncomfortable. Anybody else experience this? Any suggestions to fix it? Dealer didn't think we could take them off and have it look right.

The best crossover out there

I love the roominess of the Saturn and it is smooth. It returns the best fuel economy of any eight pasenger SUV. 19 city 27 highway. I LOVE IT!

Super handling & smooth; always minimum mpg

Owned 30 days drove 3000 miles. Mixed driving 14.5 mpg 1st 1k mi, 19 mpg 2nd 1k mi, 3rd 1K mi 17 mpg. Two(2) problems: came with broken lumbar support knob; HVAC recirculation selector usually does not work. Crazy fuel level is 15 gal when "empty" vs spec 22 gal tank, and needle gradually "swims" up & down instead of maintaining fuel level and slowly dropping all the time like normal cars. Smoother/sharper handling compared to previous 2003 Yukon XL Denali with much better 3rd row seat.
