It is a great car. Easy to handle and a smooth ride. The process of leasing it was seamless. The salesperson was very thorough and helpful.

Reliability and Reputation

I need to know the car I drive is the best I can afford. Recently widowed, this is the first car I have purchased on my own. The Subaru Forester has consistently had the highest rating by Consumer Reports. It is just the right size for me to buzz around the city, take some road trips and even haul my grandkids whenever I want.

2nd one i?ve owned and I love it

Very spacious and the visibility is better than any other small SUV we test drove. Very stable on ice and snow and quite peppy. My wife has put over 35k miles on it in less than 15 months... guess she likes it too ?

Undisclosed Defect in Subaru Forester: Burns Oil

Oil light comes on repeatedly. This "new" car burns a quart of oil every 2,000 to 3,800 miles. This defect should have been disclosed upon purchase. I am now being told that this is because it has a manual transmission. While the car itself handles well, it is completely unreliable for travel and one has to carry oil at all times. This should not be happening with a car with only 11,000 miles on it.

beware of ignition steering lock

We have numerous cases where it is difficult to start the car because of the ignition steering interlock. When this happens one has to twist the steering wheel very hard while turning the key. In some cases it took two people; one twisting the steering wheel and the other turning the key. The dealer tells us "the car is working as designed".

High Maintenance and Low Reliability

Engine failed after 112,000 miles without giving any warning. All the maintenance is done by the Subaru dealer. Subaru did not help. This is a high maintenance car with very poor quality. Acceleration, Cabin noise and Vibrations are other issues you need to dealt with.

A great vehicle to drive

The Subaru Forester is a highly dependable and mechanically sound vehicle to drive and to own. It gets around handily in all kinds of weather, particularly in deep snow.

Great car, first time owners of a Subaru

We love our Subaru. My husband had a hard time entering and exiting our old car and we were looking for something high enough for him to sit on it not in it. We had a great experience with our salesman Jorden Ingles he was very personable and knowledgeable at Dave Wright Subaru in Hiawatha, Iowa. The solidness of the car and features are outstanding. Again We Love Our Subaru.
