Most fun car I have ever owned

by Honey from md on Tue Aug 15 2006

The best fun is driving around and having people look at you. This is such a safe car and handles so well because of the all wheel drive.

Fun Car Subaru Problems

by 2.5rsfreak from Rochester, NY on Thu Jan 02 2014

This was such a fun car to drive. But the huge problemsI had made me sell it. The vehicle needed a head gasket replacement at only 110,000 miles and the rear wheel arches had huge rust holes. You can tell both of these are engineering issues via Subaru. I wanted to keep it longer but couldn't fathom spending $2,000 on it for something else to go wrong.

Most Reliable Car I've Owned

by Island Driver from Haiku, Maui on Wed Nov 08 2006

I've been driving this car for 5 years and it's been the best, most dependable car I've owned. It gets good gas mileage and is a great car to zip around in. It has great acceleration. The front seats are very comfortable. Not only has good road clearance, but also is sure and steady on the road.

Non-turbo hood hard to find

by PRL from Arlington, VA on Fri Oct 16 2009

Update on my review from November. A truck backed into the car at a toll booth. Damage was front bumper, two headlights, and hood needed replacing. The estimate from the bodyshop was more than the value of the car because they could not find a non-turbo hood in green. So the car has been declared a total write off at 88k miles. Mechanically this was a reliable car the 20k miles we had it.

Reliable wagon

by PRL from Arlington, VA on Mon Nov 03 2008

Drive a 2000 wagon, auto transmission. Bought used at 67k, 6 months on 74k. Reliable so far. Engine powerful, auto shifts smoothly. Great all round visibility out, especially out the large rear windows in the wagon. Pull out cup holder in front of air-con vent helps keep metal canteen cool. Back seat base lifts up and seat back folds down for wagon utility. Brakes work fine, although no ABS and front disc brakes only. Missing drivers seat height adjustment, too large steering wheel, and missing cruise control. Looking forward to testing the 4WD in winter. I'm getting 21mpg with the Auto.

Our Take on the 2000 Subaru Impreza

This could be the perfect "kid car," a category I like to recapitulate as graduation time beckons, so take notes, indulgent parents. The Subaru Impreza wagon is foremost an all-wheel-drive machine, as are all Subarus. It has plenty of room for flexible young bodies and their appurtenances, it's affordable, it handles and stops decently, it's not exactly overpowered, and it's so pitifully hog-ugly, they'll only drive it when they have to, like when their buddy with the V-8 convertible isn't available.

Looks are a subjective thing, of course, and the accompanying photo doesn't really do the car's dorkiness justice. In the round, it goes beyond funky and well into the realm of pathos. It... Read More
