Great utility
Great in snow. Great for kids as there is a lot of room in the back. Not the biggest fan of how loud the engine/transmission is. Pickup is ok in the 4cyl, wish it was faster though. Lots of space and safety/peace of mind make it a great family vehicle

You can easily fit 7 big dogs inside!
This is definitely an adventure mobile! Everyone looks at me like I must be a soccer mom, but this thing hauls so much gear/pets/firewood/sporting equipment that I don't care! It's roomy enough for my 55lb Australian shepherd to curl up on the floors of the front AND backseats. I didn't get the leather interior but it's no problem because it's the type of upholstery that's easily vacuumed, meaning dog hair doesn't stick around for long. I can fit two large dog crates in the cargo area, and did I mention the back seat reclines?? Pretty awesome if you have backseat passengers of the human kind. There are lots of places inside the car to stow loose items like pens, coins, sunglasses, etc, and the cupholders are meant for small soda cans all the way up to supersize mega gulps. One of my favorite features of the outback are the stow away roof crossbars. When you want to haul a roof box or bikes on top your car, you just slide the crossbars into place to mount your roof rack. then when you're done, just slide them back into the roof rails and voila! It's like they were never there, and better gas mileage! The car has a low center of gravity because of it's longer wheelbase...which means a smooth ride! It has the same ground clearance as a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it's not as tall so you can lift gear onto the roof rack more easily. The AWD system is the best...just what you'd expect from Subaru. I've never gotten stuck and I've driven 100k miles in 4 years, all over this country. T If you like to go on adventures, have lots of gear and a family, you can do it all with this car. My wife and I can sleep soundly with our legs stretched out with the backseats folded down...even our dog fits nicely at our feet when we're car camping cross-country. We cut a piece of memory foam to fit around the wheel wells and now the outback is practically an RV! I have the 2.5i Premium trim level, and I do wish I'd gotten the 3.6...more power off the line. But the trade-off is in the gas mileage. The best part about this car - I drive it hard and it never fails on me. I've never had to fix a single thing. I just make sure to always get the regularly scheduled maintenance done and she drives like a dream. I wouldn't trade it for anything and I'm looking forward to the next 200,000 miles in adventures.

Nice vehicle.
Very comfortable car. Drives and handles very well. Electronics are a little disappointing. Cumbersome. The disclaimer you have to answer every time you start the car is annoying. Only thing I have found I don't like.

IT JUST GOES! SNOW, MUD, ICE... AND GREAT MILEAGE!
Even with nasty road conditions we experience up here in northern Minnesota, I rarely worry about it. I'm able to safely pass most vehicles on the highways when they are having trouble and need to go very slow. Also has a higher clearance than most so I can go driving off road for hunting etc. with no problem!

Safe, Reliable but this is ridiculous
Wife has been driving this car for four years, loves it. Great in the snow, plenty of room for grandkids and/or dogs. It's been very reliable inspite of her lack of regular maintenance. BUT; One of the headlights went out, figured I'd pop the hood and install a new bulb. Not so easy! Google it. Some owners suggest removing the fender to get in there. At the least you must remove the wheel well liner and then still need elf hands to get up in there. A hassle for the owner but a bonanza for the dealer!
