Safety first
I can?t say enough about the safety features on this vehicle. I think all cars should come with them. Great value for the money.

Big, Ugly, Capable Car for New Englanders
I've owned smaller cars, typically German, hatchbacks or sports cars. This is the 6th car I've purchased, my first wagon and my first Subaru. It's a large, comfortable car. I feel very safe and secure in any sort of weather. These are my first impressions, which may change with time. I've avoided Subarus for years because of the substandard quality of the interior fit and finish. My model is a 2017 Subaru Outback Limited with Eyesight. Negative Points: 1. Poor Fuel Economy - I'm averaging 25 mpg, I was expecting better fuel economy even though it is an AWD wagon. 2. Poorly Designed Interior and Infotainment Controls- The clock is hidden among the climate controls. It seems like there are different systems that were thrown together in a confusing array of menus and submenus. You'll spend a lot of time searching to make adjustments while driving, which kind of defeats the purpose of all of the advanced safety features. Nothing is intuitive. 3. Foggy Side Windows - No matter the setting I cannot get the side windows clear from fog and condensation. 4. Laughable Speech Recognition - Whenever I want to entertain my passengers, I attempt to use the speech recognition which nearly always fails. I have no problems interacting with SIRI, Cortana, Alexa etc., but have had little success with the Subaru speech recognition. 5. 6K Service Intervals - I am accustomed to having cars serviced at 10 to 12K intervals. Positive Points: 1. It's Big but surprisingly easy to maneuver - I think the advanced safety features like the blind spot monitoring, make this large car easy to park. However, I cannot comprehend why the car features rear parking sonar sensors, but not front sensors? 2. Roomy - you'll have plenty of room for all of your things and then some. I'm almost 6 feet tall and there is plenty of room for rear passengers when I have the front seat adjusted to my driving position. 3. It's not an S.U.V. - You can get away with having all of the benefits of an S.U.V. without the stigma. Bottom Line: If you're a mature, practical New Englander, and tend to wear turtle necks, this is the car for you. If you're an automobile enthusiast who enjoys driving you should probably look elsewhere. This is a comfortable, safe car for people who don't really care about cars and just need to get from point A to point B.

Good car
Good on gas, reliable. Horrible entertainment system. Text message integrated. 2018 Apple Car Play & Android Auto might have fixed this annoyance of entertainment system integration for 2017 and older models.

Good for the $$$$
We had the 3.6r limited with the tungsten exterior and tan interior. Within 2 months the leather seats had turned blue from wearing blue jeans in the car. The eyesight works well most of the time unless you are in a heavy downpour. It will turn itself off until the sonar resets itself. The info center is the worst i have seen on any car which includes a really bad sound system. The unit has the AHA app which works sometimes and has a hard time making a bluetooth connection. The quality of the interior materials are average. you get what you pay for! The 3.6 is worth the extra money. We had a 2.5 and mountain passes were a chore. Overall, if you are on a budget of $30k it is a good buy. We sold ours and purchased a new Pathfinder.

Most reliable car I've ever owned
I recently traded a 2012 Kia Sorento for the Subaru Outback. I absolutely love this car. Had I known what I was missing out on, I would've purchased this one right from the start.

First Subaru ever owned and already love it.
The car is fully equipped with tons of safety features. The features are easy to use. The vehicle is a joy to drive with good acceleration and a very tight turning radius. The all-wheel drive system is fantastic. Inside, the Outback looks great. The two tone leather is really nice. And the heated seats and steering wheel are perfect. Driving down the highway, the car is quiet and very comfortable.

Glad to be back in a Subaru!
This is the perfect road trip car, but it also zips around town easily as I run my errands. It looks great, offers many superb safety features, and drives smoothly.

Good Quality Vehicle with Good Dealer Support
Leased 3.6, Touring Outback in Jan 2017. Very solid, spacious, quiet and comfortable - far better in these attributes than my 2014 BMW which I replaced with this Subaru. Great safety features but one, adaptive cruise control with full stop capability is crude. When it is engaged its behavior is like a hyper aggressive very unskilled driver: roaring up behind vehicles and braking hard and late. Generally don?t use in traffic with speeds over 35mph. Turning this EyeSight feature off does not affect the automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert and emergency braking, and blind spot warning. The nav-infotainment touch screen is far far easier to use and less distracting than BMW?s iDrive. Car has lots of nice touches, like reminder to proceed when traffic in front has moved, internal out of sight stowage for the cargo cover, instant fold down rear seats from rear of cargo area. Some irritating quirks: no automatic door locking, no retained power or battery saver if a light is turned on manually (discovered this non-feature when battery went dead). 3.6 liter engine is smooth and quiet with lots of power to merge or pass. Car computer says I?m getting a bit over 20mpg in mostly urban driving. CVT is non intrusive and doesn?t ?motor boat? partially due to artificial steps put into the transmission program. The steps are noticeable only when accelerating hard or operating the transmission in manual mode. The only oddity is the notable delay in ?gear? engagement when shifting between drive and reverse. Like all Subarus the all wheel drive is constantly available and seamless in its operation. Great car, especially at its price point.
