This is the first Toyota I have ever owned. I commuted 50 miles one way everyday. I have a 2009 Camry LE purchase new from dealer. The seats are only comfortable for short trips. I wished I could have had a long test drive and I would have discovered this. The brakes are lasting good. I have over 80,000 miles on the camry and the brakes do not need changing yet. However, they did develop a squeal after 26,000. I was told there was nothing they could do about it. The camry eats tires. I was told my the tire dealership they cannot get tires to last to the full estimated mileage on any tires. Next, I did not realize they do not make wiper refills for the factory blades. You have to replace entire blade or put after market on. Next, my radio no longer works. I was told by dealer that this is a common problem. A refurbished radio is over 270 + labor. I do not think this should be a problem in a two year old car. It should not matter how many miles are on the car. The engine and transmission seem to be working fine. I also feel Toyotas has a lot of room to improve in their service departments. Overall, I am not impressed with Toyota or Camry.

we purchased our 2009 camry le 4 cylinder with 9000 miles on it in december 31, 2010; upon taking it on a road trip for the first time from northern indiana to mobile, alabama. we got a between 35-37 miles per gallon on consistant speeds of 70-75 mph. at that time we used shell 89 octane fuel. on the way back we used chevron 89 octane fuel, with the same results. i would highly recommend the 89 octane when traveling on long trips, and a couple of gallons of 93 octane every know and then;

Six speed stick, very smooth shifting like silk, comfortable seating adjustments, great for long trips, clear crisp audio, little to no road noise, lots of trunk space extended with the tilt down rear seats, solid body construction, no noise, extra large middle door posts (peace of mind in case of side impact), neat clean engine compartment exceeds posted mpg, lots of storage space and made in USA, mostly.

Camry Delivers Again

I have had this Camry (my 2nd one!) now for 2 1/2 years and have yet to find a reason to trade it in for a different model! Performance-wise it is unsurpassed for reliability. For a four door vehicle (Model XLE 6-cylinder) it has a surprizing amount of get-up-and-go! I have no problems with on-ramps or passing lanes...it definitely delivers on that end. Inside, the car is plenty roomy for five passengers, with the split-back rear having the ability to recline ever so slightly, but enough to take the edge off a trip under one hour. The JBL stereo is fantastic, to the point of me blowing the left rear speaker. Unfortunately, the list price of a SINGLE replacement speaker is...this is no lie...over THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS! And that's not including labor which I am sure will be billed at a minimum 2 hours! (I used to install car stereos for a living and the rear deck of this Camry is a MONSTER to disassemble!). I opted for the GPS which is about 50% reliable and quite annoying when it takes you the long way even when you program it to take the shortest route. But this is inherent in most GPS units except for a few recent release Garmin models, as I am finding out through my own research. A big problem for me (I am 6 feet tall) is how cramped the area is around my right knee. I know that sounds odd, but I am on the road a lot for my job and where my right knee rests is against a hard plastic edge, which fatigues the heck out of me after an hour of highway driving! If they just made that area a bit softer I would have absolutely zero complaints for long distance driving. The car definitely has a smooth ride for long trips, which I love, and is why I purchased a second Camry. So that's my take on it. Overall, I love the car. I am thinking about switching to a truck (mid-life weirdness I guess) and am seriously considering the Tundra because the reliability of my last two Toyotas was unbeatable for the money!

2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID

I did not feel I could afford a Prius because I wanted a "loaded car" with leather, navigation, upgraded sound system, blue tooth, power everything...you name it, I wanted it! That is very hard to do when also wanting a HYBRID. After a month of diligent research, I finally decided on the Toyota Camry Hybrid which was very affordable yet offered me the luxury I wanted. Though the Camry's only get 35 miles to the gallon compared to 55 in the Prius, it was still a big savings in gas mileage from what I had been driving so I am extremely, extremely happy with my purchase. And I could not have found it without on line car search engines!

As reported by other users, the transmission slips or lurches. We've had the car back to the dealer and heard everything from it needs to break in yet (with over 6,00 miles on it?) to we have installed new transmission computer software. And the dealer wants to start charging $75 if the trouble can't be found or repeated, saying Toyota won't pay them unless a trouble is actually found. The dealer is also pushy and always trying to sell add-on service work or accessories that are not needed. The Seats are not as comfortable as we thought they would be also. And there is wind or road noise also that wasn't noticed before. Lastly the gas mileage is poor and not near what is advertised or stated on the window sticker. 17 - 19 mpg suburban driving and 28.2 tops on a couple 200-300 mile freeway trips. 6 out of 8 peop

I have had my Camry XLE V-6 since August and I have put 38,000 miles on it so far. The MPG has been impressive; I am averaging 28.12 over the life of the car with a 33.2 best tank. The car has plenty of power and is really quiet on the highway. The car rides better than the Fusion or the Malibu, my tow previous company cars. I have factory navigation, and while it works ok I would advise that you skip it. It takes way too many steps to get what you want, and you can't make changes with the car moving. The voice activation is not nearly as good as the one my wife’s Honda van and that one is a pain as well. Get a Garmin and save the money. The factory Bluetooth is amazing people are amazed that they can hear me as well as they do. Other than the navigation the one thing that I would change is that the mirrors don't fold in. The car has had nothing but oil changes and tire rotations every 5000 miles, with the exception of having to have the front rotors turned at 35,000 miles to cure a vibration that I was getting while braking. The car came with Michelin tires and they look new. I have the push button start and would not have believed how spoiled you get not having to use the key. I have none of the V-6 issues that some have had, and I notice on the Toyota forums most people are very happy. I went with the Toyota because on the Honda forums people were saying that they were getting 24-25 MPG while the Toyota forums were saying 27-28 on the Toyota V-6. This car will have to last me 250,000 miles and I see no reason why it won't.
