  • Love this car more than anything

Never loved a car more than this one. Bought her 12 years ago and drove her down to Mexico, she's been ripping around the beaches and dirt roads down here ever since. Now with over 200,000miles on her she's definitely a little beat up aesthetically but is still running no problem.. biggest repairs in the last 12 years was power steering and the computer, but I was able to find those parts and keep her going. I will drive her until one of us dies. Bought a newer 2012 RAV4 for work purposes a few years ago but hated it...the newer ones suck on dirt roads, are all plastic and just all around feel fragile compared to my '99 Rav4

  • Most reliable car we ever owned hands down

Bought this car new in 1999. It has nearly 250k miles in it. Only broke down one time when the water pump was replaced. Absolutely the best car we ever owned.

  • Real Rav4 review from current owner

I buy this 1999rav4L with 121k miles on it. I did alot of repairs...R people kidding that they dont do any repairs?? #1 spark plugs dual tipped denso...#2 automatic windows fail..you must replace the regulator...#3 suspension...you must replace struts and rear shocks...#4waterpump leaking and timing belt meeds to be removed to replace leaky waterpump...not much fun...but luckily i can find parts easily and i actually do love the 1999 Rav4 but its still a dog it could be so much better..thats why i want a new Rav4 i bet its awsum..i hope to get a new rav4...sick of all the repairs ... But i know with the repairs i did it will last me a long time i should be able to go to 200k so i will not buy a new Rav4 ...sorry but i feel stuck in the past with the 1999....if your situaution is good get a new Rav4...dont buy an old rav4 unless all these repairs have been completed. Good Luck!!!

  • Good old work horse.

About 5 years ago, I needed a new vehicle for my Dog Walking business after my old car failed it's MOT (I am in England). Anyway, had always liked the look of the RAV4, and it ticked all the boxes for me. Nice low back entry for the dogs. Easy getting in and out for me. Good all round vision. Can park it anywhere. Good handling. Comfortable. Good in snowy weather. Reliable. Not too concerned with it being slow off the mark. It's an old car, with 198,000 miles on the clock, so give her a break. 😉 She has been the most reliable car I have ever owned, so I shall continue to drive and maintain her until she dies of old age. Then I will buy 2nd Generation one.

  • I bought my Rav4 new in 1999; am still driving it.

Although I could afford a new car, I love my 1999 Rav4. It still performs very well and looks great due to careful driving and good maintenance.

  • Replaced Truck

Totalled my truck by totalling a 1,500 lb bull too. Replaced it with this Black Rav4. The license plate letters are E R P. So we fondly call him Wyatt. Drives great, Wyatt is good on gas. I do not like the plastic shields on the door windows. They are cheap and have broken. same with the open latch. Also have read all the books on it and there is no where that tells one how to put soap in the rear wiper.

  • Love my car!

I bought this car off of my parents and it is currently at 178, 000 kms and I know that she will keep going for many more! Never had any issues with her and I will buy another Rav 4 when good old Betsy eventually dies. She can be a bit noisy and slower at accelerating on highways however I never doubt this car and it is a perfect size and fit for me.

  • 1999 Rav 4

14 years, 130,000 miles still runs like day 1. Regular maintenance and oil changes. This car can't be beat . Iowa salt in winters with no rust. Paint looks great still. Never broken down or even an engine light. will keep till wheels fall off if ever they do.

  • Keeps on Ticking

It just keeps running. Mine has 186K and more miles. Its a good match with the 2.0l engine. Needed a new clutch and you do have to check the oil every other day, but its a great car.

  • Awesome Little SUV

This is my fourth Toyota but the RAV-4 is the best one yet. For someone on a limited budget, this car really rocks. I have had my RAV-4 now for 13 years and it has close to 100,000 miles. This car is dependable, very low maintenance, great mileage, super manuverability, fun to drive, easy to park and great in the snow. Since I drive alot for work now, I am considering upgrading to something newer, but it will definately be another RAV-4 for me!
