Sporty Commuter

This vehicle replaced a 2013 Abarth 500 as my daily driver. I spend a lot of time commuting, 40k/year, and wanted something with more amenities than the Fiat, but it still had to be fun to drive. The GTI fits those requirements very well. The interior is outstanding for the price point.

Perfect Mix of Luxury and Spirited Euro Driving

This car gave just the right amount of amenities, quality interior materials, and torque-heavy performance. Its an excellently balanced ride and manages to edge off torque steer, even while being FWD. The SE package comes with heated leather seats, a panoramic moon roof, and all-season tires. All around a fun, very European hot hatch.

Still the Hot Hatch

I traded in an Audi A4 on the GTI, wanting something more efficient without sacrificing performance. The GTI has lived up to my expectations. I prefer the ?German-ness? of the GTI over that of my wife?s `17 Honda Civic Si, even though the Si is slightly a better performer than the GTI (Japanese car manufacturers have a certain aesthetic, just as the German Marques do, but I prefer the more ?analog ? & simpler instrumentation of the GTI over the ?digital excess? of the Honda). GTI has a great manual tranny with broad torque band, which is good if you know how to use it. Overall, I would highly recommend this car, not only for its efficiency & performance, but it?s personality as well.

VW GTI Sport (6Spd Manual)

I needed a car that got good mileage that also brought a smile to my face. With commuting 15k a year and using the car as a runner I was looking for a 20-25k mileage beater. I also like a car with a bit of a sport side (sorry Prius), and could hold 100lb dog in comfort, so I decided on a hatchback as the best choice. The GTI Sport Manual hit all the buttons. - 34 mpg on the highway / 28 City - So far 31 mpg ave - Plenty of get up and go 220hp / 258tq @ 3000lbs = Fahrvergnugen - Easy mods if you want a lil more umph - throw the seats down and my dog has plenty of leg room - Fun to drive and handles like a dream. - The Sport puts some goodies on it that you cant beat for the price. - Great breaks / Great Motor / good radio with Apple car play / all the electronic comforts needed for a commuter car. - HEATED SEATS are the best thing since sliced bread !!!! (cold Pittsburgh weather and bad back) The Bad - Exterior styling is a little bland, but that may not be all bad since I have a heavy foot. - This is a commuter car, plus it isn't a huge car so 1 star off for comfort - If not careful a VW GTI can turn into an expensive car to purchase vs fun hatch competition (honda/mazda/subaru) - only GTI trim level with NO fog lamps Ummm trying to think of anything else .

VW GTI

I hadn't driven a VW in a while and was quite impressed. VW does power delivery right! Smooth comfortable refined, yet gets up and goes when commanded. My only beef is the styling of the wheels was not to my taste. Could use some options there, but would not sway my buying decision.

A lot of performance out of a 4-door hatch

I love this car. I have a 2017 GTI Sport with the 6-speed auto. This car is fast and a lot of fun to drive.nnI just bought the car at Niello's VW and they were great. The salesperson, David Y. was fantastic he knows everything about GTIs. The only bad thing about this car, well 2 things, first a bit of a harsh ride on these horrible Sacramento streets and second I hate using as a commuter car because I can't go fast in traffic. Love to go fast and around corners in this car.
