2002 Volkswagen Passat consumer reviews

Mechanics' dream. Undergraduate vehicle which I shall be required to replace due to age. Vehicle is in pristine mechanical status merely a few cosmetic bruises which would be trivial to repair.

My first car and I love it! Got it almost a year ago with 76k miles. Now has about 82k. Only two previous owners. No problems whatsoever, minus just having to change some lightbulbs. Two friends have newer Passats ('12 and '13) and have had a bunch of issues! Love the seat warmers and sunroof. I have an aftermarket Bluetooth stereo, which makes drives even better. I live in a hilly, mountainous area and have never had any problems, despite being front wheel drive. A blast to drive, I always feel safe. "Below '05 and you'll never worry about the drive"!

This vehicle is 17 years old and only has 87,000 miles. It is dependabe and has plenty of power. The check engine light came on so I took it in to check the code and after holding my breath for the results I exhaled a sigh of relief learning it was a lose gas cap. So I disconnected the battery and let it clear out. No more problems to date. Watch the oil you put in it and the filters. Make sure it's Volkswagen compatible or it could sludge up, burn up your oil pump and soon after that your motor. But just make sure you take care of her and she will take care of you.

This car was bought 3rd hand and while it?s not in the best shape right now it would be a great reliable car once it was fixed up. It has all the necessary bells and whistles and a comfortable ride.

I love the look of the Passat. I bought it used but no one believed it was a 2002 - it has a classic look that lasted for years. Though its city gas mileage was pretty awful, on the highway the car handled beautifully. It took curves well, accelerated well, and overall it was a joy to drive. The car itself held together until it was 14 years old, when critical parts simply failed due to age. I had to replace brakes, alternator, and water tank, but frankly only the water tank surprised me (and on the GLX it is a fortune to replace, fyi). I love this car and it was a pleasure to own and drive.

I bought used in 2013. Have it for 5 years. Never had serious problem. Very comfortable during driving. Doring 5 years made some small repairs.

Love the VW Passat............... I love station wagons and I have everything and more.............

Solid car, all wheel drive makes for great traction in winter. Not real quick but reliable. Large cargo area for transporting kids' toys and luggage.

Favorite car I've owned. Has 205k on it and has yet to give me any big issues. Will own it for a long time

This car was perfect for the summer. We visit all these places without having any problem with her. She has some esthetics problems because it been through a small crash but it didn't bother me at all.
