A 1993. Bought at end of 2019 w/112k for a good price. Car was in good shape, i.e. no head gasket issues minor oil leaks. After flushing the cooling system changing the belts & hoses & fluids, I drove it for the next 2years without issue. Last year (at 126K) new rad., coolant cross-over and water pump. Now it runs perfectly. Issues: Complicated top that needs a specialist to adjust to work easily. Now have 131k. Positives: stunning to look at (head-turner), fast for an early 90's car (0-60, 6.2, 1/4 mile 14.8 and a Cadillac claimed 241kph top), very nice interior for the time. A hybrid (Italo-American) at a very nice price.

I have been a Cadillac owner all my driving life. I must say the Allante is very sporty compared to the boat like ride of the classic Cadillacs. I enjoy driving it especially with the top down.

I purchased my 93 in 2001, with approx 65K , I travelled and used for pleasure trips, and vacations. Mechanically It has preformed well. I have ha several Electronic issues, Raido system drain of battery, window switches being cleaned and reinstalled, top power latches, both rear and front failures,( Never Close To Home) The seat stitching has come loose on a few seems, but most interior parts are still nice. This vehicle has been garage kept most of its life, exterior is still nice. I have doubled the mileage in past 20 years, but rarely drive anymore.

This is a Cadillac, inside and out. Mine is beautiful, well kept, super low mileage (CAUTION) and mechanically sound. CAUTION on the mileage...mine was so low, it still had the original tires on it!! 24 year old tires don't last long on the highway - dry rot. If the tires are original, I wondered what else do I needed to worry about. Took it to the Cadillac dealership in town (I live in a very small town) and no one there had seen one much less worked on one. Another problem to overcome. Be ready for some expenses that could have been avoided if more knowledgeable mechanics aren't available or used because there are a lot of 'tricks' or 'secrets' to know or learn about this car. Internet resources are great, but some mechanics are too proud to consult others. As with any older (or newer) used car, don't be shy about pushing every button, working every switch, raise and lower the convertible top (multiple times!), know what works and what doesn't - trust no one on their word in this regard. It may sound silly, but I've actually thought about hand-washing the car before buying it (you'd be surprised what you see when you do that - so much more than just walking around while the seller 'chats' with you). Still, I'm happy, I really like the car, it's a great drive and definitely a head-turner. Love the sound of the V8 when it idles... it's right out of a Tim Allen comedy routine - MORE POWER!! :-)

The Allante enjoys a true pedigree between Cadllac and Ferrari. Find one that has been well taken care of and you'll get a lot of bang for your buck!!!

Here is a review of my start to finish process of buying a car from Gateway Classic Cars, Ft. Lauderdale: ----- 1. The sales people who you work with are not on site. They're working remote so they don't have eyes on the car. ---- So, 2. You'll want to be connected with someone on site who can start and drive the car, provide a walkaround video, pictures of whatever you want and give their input. I worked with Alex at the Ft. Lauderdale location for my purchase and he was outstanding with helping me to know the car before making an offer. He is the reason that this is a 5 star review. -------- 3. Hauling: They'll get you a quote for hauling the vehicle. I chose Nexus Transport myself to use. They were a bit cheaper and top rated by Forbes. That went just fine. --------- 4. These cars are all on consignment. So, I feel that you have to be a little more careful because you have another party who may not have disclosed things to Gateway. Best practice is to get a pre-buy done from someone like Lemon Squad. That being said, I was so comfortable with my deal, took the risk and waived the pre-buy. And in my case, the Prowler is a mint gem and I have no concerns after receiving it. Also, there is a common thought then you buy a car like this, you should budget 10% or so of the price for maintenance right after you get the car because stuff always comes up, otherwise, don't buy a used car. --------5. Since they're on consignment, they have commissions they charge the seller. As a buyer, I don't care if I see a commissions line on the purchase agreement. As long as my out the door number was what I offered, that's fine. --------6. I wired money to them and within a few hours, I had all the fully executed paperwork back in my hands. Title took about 3 weeks to receive by UPS. And the folder had everything I needed to register the car in my state. Wow! Thank you Barbara! ------ 7. So here is what breeds loyalty. Alex at the Ft. Lauderdale location made sure the car was completely ready to be picked up including accessories that were bubble wrapped. The car was supposed to be picked up at Noon on Saturday, plenty of time before they closed at 5pm. He stayed until the truck arrived...very late....AT 1:30am Sunday morning!!!! (Otherwise, it would have sat until Tuesday). I cannot believe he did that for me. I received my car loading video at 2am. That's unbelievable service that deserves more than 5 stars. ------- Summary: I'd have zero issues with buying from Gateway again....they just operate in a different dealership style than what I'm used to, which is just fine.

Cadillac Allantes originally listed for $55,000+ and can be had for a fraction of that in 2010. These cars feature Italian coachwork by Pininfarina and were built alongside Ferrari Testarosas. The interiors have multi-adjustable Recaro seats (except for the 1993, final year, models) and a wealth of features. While the Bose stereo systems are notoriously fragile and the top pull down mechanisms are prone to failure, the cars are otherwise reliable if properly maintained. The V8 engines provide more than adequate power, and the 1993 Allantes feature the famous Northstar engine.

I am a silver haired car buff (former traveling salesman) who has owned many Cadillacs over the years from De'villes to Broughams to Eldorados. I now drive a 1993 Allante and it is not only the finest automobile I have ever owned it is the finest Automobile I have ever driven. It is comfortable, punchy, sturdy and a real kick in the head to drive. Aside from all this, the car is extremely reliable. I have driven in summer bumper to bumper city traffic and have been on highway road trips in my Allante and never had any breakdowns or problems. The Northstar is a remarkable engine with plenty of horsepower and torque. All the scrabble-talk about head gasket issues is irrelevant if you simply keep coolant in the blessed radiator. It's real simple! If you are foolish enough to over-heat the Allante turn off the engine immediately and let it cool down. Yes, you can have head gasket problems if you let the car get too hot, so be responsible, check your gage, keep the coolant topped off, don't over heat the engine and you will have one of the finest performance engines ever made. The Allante with the Northstar engine is a masterpiece roadster. Many Cadillac techs agree with me and swear by the 1993 Allante. This is a world class automobile!

I owe Tapp Motors (Jr and Sr) a wholehearted apology for what I wrote last night. Seems like we all had challenging days yesterday and our lines of communications were BROKEN. You know, I’ve always given advice about email like this: Write what you want, but NEVER, EVER send an emotional email... I broke my own rule. Also, if you have a problem and misunderstanding then pick up the phone, walk over and have a friendly conversation to clear the air. So, that’s what I did earlier today after not sleeping much last night. I called both gents and explained my feelings and why I abruptly left the lot yesterday. They were very gracious and we all apologized for poor communication. I felt better, they felt better and everyone is smiling and laughing... Life is GOOD! After such a misunderstanding and we’re able to “shake hands” and part friends says A LOT about the Character of the Tapp Family. It’s not often a rather bad communication can be settled and without hard feelings. It’s ALL about the more often and not practiced “Golden Rule”.... Sadly we’re often too busy to stop and smell the roses and more importantly LISTEN. God gave us two ears to one mouth. Gentlemen and The Family of Tapp Motors.... This car is built to last. Originally priced at over $60,000 today you can buy one for under $10,000. Cadillac lost money on this car and stopped production in 1993. The chassis was built by pininfarina (Ferrari) in Italy. The early models had the Reccaro seats, the finest made. It was shipped from Italy to Detroit where the engine and transmission were assembled. The hardtop (later was an option) comes off to reveal a soft top. The on board computer monitors 500 functions. As it is a cadillac, most parts are still available. It gets an amazing 24-25 mpg on the highway due to the 4 speed automatic. One of the most comfortable cars and fast too. Electronic dash reminds one of an airplane. Has ABS braking. A new one must of been fantastic!

I love driving this car it is so much fun it is powerful the motor turns right over and you can just hear the power you can feel the power it is responsive it is comfortable with those leather Recaro seats and everything has gone into this car to make it an enjoyable ride the hardtop for winter the soft top or ability to have no top on for the summer just an amazing car
