Purchased used for $1500 to using as a fishing truck about a decade ago, but we can’t kill it! About to roll 200,000 miles and haven’t spent a dime on anything more than routine maintenance. Heater is weak, A/C is strong, and the seats are as comfortable as any truck. The V-6 isn’t strong but gets respectable fuel mileage. Best served with a manual transmission.

I owned 2 1993 Dodge Dakota’s one with the magnum V6 one with the magnum V8. I put over 200,000 miles on both with little to no trouble or mechanical problems. Kept both serviced on a regular basis and didn’t dog them out. That’s not to say that I took it easy on them, far from it. I drove the crap out of both. To this day the only thing that’s come close are a Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0 inline 6 cylinder and Chevy 1500 truck with the 5.3 liter engine. Currently own my second Toyota (totaled the first one) so we will see.

I recently bought a Ram pickup at Frankman and two days later had an issue arise . You always wonder how you be treated in such a situation. Well , it was a great experience, they took care of the problem and did it in the friendliest of manner. I will definitely be back and would recommend Frankman for buying a vehicle. This my 2nd Dodge Dakota, I would recommend another one to anyone who wants manual truck. My 1st was 1997 Dodge Dakota, I actually prefer the 97 style to the 2006 model, this year would make my truck 26 yrs old. Still on the road, just has a few maintenance issues, still planning on keeping my 97, gonna put it in the shop for some TLC. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Dodge corporation made one xxxx of a truck, I believe that if the 2006 last as long as my 97, then this will be my last truck. Nothing better than shifting gears with the windows rolled down, going 60 mph.

I stopped in with my son, a first time buyer who was looking for something to tackle the snow with. Ya know, most of the time when you’re greeted that fast as a auto shopper you’re thinkin’ uh-oh another pushy salesman, but that was far from the case. This dealership was helpful and willing to give us a car buying experience that was unmatched by previous lots around the region. The staff is friendly and treat you as one of their own. November 12th 2024, I bought my Dodge Dakota SXT 3.7 L, automatic 2x4 from the original owner, it was a commuter truck from Fredericksburg Virginia to DC I picked it up with 258,000 / Now 290k , It's been a great truck for what I need. I'd like to find a machinist and get the heads redone. The bottom end should be pretty good but I'll give it a good look through when I have the funds. Just keep up with simple maintenance especially with suspension and steering parts don't let things go too long cost more money. That has been my experience with many vehicles. NO doubt, I do like this DAK!

This truck was my friend for four years until I traded it in om a fullsize RAM. It was a true workhorse. I used it as a daily commuter, family vehicle, cargo hauler, and as a tow vehicle and it did it all well. Ride could be better but, let's face it it's a truck. I truly love the design, I feel it's an attractive looking truck. Interior design looks a little cheap, but it's thought out well and I was always using the fold-flat crates under the back seats. I traded it in because I needed a larger back seat as kids are getting bigger, and because it's one flaw is the power (or lack there of) of the V6 engine. Hot day with the A/C cranked up and a full load of passengers and you can feel a big drop in performance.

It's a great and good riding and fun to drive I however have been having problems when changing the rear brakes pads especially on the drivers side, and the emergency rear brake cable as well, other wise it's a pretty reliable truck, when commuting or hauling things, do need a new years wifi ,cd , am/fm radio.

No deal yet but they have been very responsive and helpful, still dealing with them.

We have a 2001 Dodge, 2001 Dodge Dakota, 2007 Dodge Dakota & 2008. Dakotas were made good & 2 Run A Long Time! We Had A Friend That had a Dodge That had At least 300,000 the truck is here but he isnt anymore.

Was looking for a midsize SUV, Bryan had a great condition Nissan Xterra at a price i couldnt refuse, the right deal, the right price, the right ammount of communication.. and a polite easy going demenor in the office… definately my current favorate used car dealership!

Bought it brand new, good use of space in center console, everything logically placed. Very few issues. Seat seam wore out from entry and exit on regular basis.

I bought mine used and I believe it had a rough life before I bought it. It took some getting used to after owning a 1500. My truck has a softer life now and it is a good quality truck.

Bought new in 03. Has a club cab with 3.9L engine. Always started and got me home. No serious problems. Replaced water pump, serpentine belt, ball joints and wheel bearings at 100k. Best truck I've owned over 45 years of driving.

Not a lot of room in cab but over 400000 and still going strong and starts every time . Pulls great even when overloaded. I would recommend this truck with the 3.9L motor to anyone

I have owned my 2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7 Laramie since 2012 as of writing this is in the middle of August 2025. I have had no issues with my truck. The truck runs perfect I’ve towed heavy loads many times over 500 miles. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I had a 1986 Toyota pick up with a 22 R engine that blew the head gaskets twice back in 1992. I’ve had a 2016 Toyota Highlander that one was OK but the interior started cracking. I have a 2020 Kia Telluride had to replace the transmission. I’ve had a 1985 GMC blazer had to replace the engine in 1992 with less then 100,00 miles on it. Right now my truck sits on 18 inch rims 31 inch tires no suspension lift. The 2005 dakota has KO 3 all terrain 31 inch tires and has a bunch of overland equipment on it with a Ikamper tent In the interior it has no cracks or blemishes. I can tell you that this is probably the best truck I will own for the rest of my life I don’t plan to ever get rid of it like I said this is a solid truck. I love it. The truck also has over 170,000 miles on it. No transmission issues no engine issues no issues at all. i’ve also taken it out trailing in a mountains, terrain where you see Toyota Trd pros jjeeps, and everything and I get a lot of compliments on it.

Put it this way, I just bought another one, same year/model. I sold the old one to my nephew who's already driven it to Az from San Diego more than once & its never once over heated in the 15 yrs Ive owned

I bought this truck as a hauler and work vehicle to save wear and tear on my main vehicle primarily for cabin hauling firewood, building materials, tools, pulling boat and utility trailer. I bought it in November used and was pleased to have it come with a cap and winter tires. I wanted to see how it handled in a prairie winter as it is a rear drive. Adding rear weight has resulted in this becoming my go to run about. I love it especially the radio cassette player which plays my old 1990s tapes! It is an extened cab 2 door and access to rear is tight but still great, heated storage area just cant see anyone sitting back there. Averaging 18 to 20 MPG is a plus.

Love my new truck! Bought it for a spare an think it's going to me more of another toy for me. It drives like a dream.

bought this truck an found it to be very reliable i don't understand the one hate comment on it they probably don't take good care of it but overall the trucks worth it an i plan on keeping it an giving it to a family member once i die its got over 213,477 thousand miles on it, its getting 25 miles per gallon its 4x4 five speed automatic but i want to switch it to manual an same thing for the 4x4 nob love the upper center console computer i would get the higher end radio head to be honest but imma keep it original its got the 4.7 liter flex fuel v8 in it i can fit six in the cab though i wish it had a long bed instead of a short bed though i need to replace the front axles the grind in four wheel drive when i steer to the left an replace all the tyres

This truck handles very well. Even though it's an 03 it only had 97k miles on it. Handles great, no play in steering, good acceleration, and being its a 6cyl the gas milage is good.

I have a 2005 dakota that I purchased new. I love it. 18 years of owning it. I have had very few issues. I use for hauling and recently I have been using it for highway driving. It just works. It's nothing fancy in fact it's kind of utilitarian. But I does everything I need it to do. I do maintain it well. but I have only had minor issues. The fuel mileage is not great but it's a truck.
