With a 5.
With a 5.3 L 4x4, Z71 and tow package has been an excellent truck. Options include a locker deferential. Used to tow a 21' Camper and does a good job of handling the tow. Milage while towing is only 11 MPG (expected with a V8 and a 4.10 rear axle) now with 125,000 miles. Like the torsion bar Front suspension, quiet smooth highway traveling. Moves VERY well in traffic. Does have a large turning radial for a small pick-up. I have used the truck to pull Compact Tractors and other items out of tough spots with ease. (4x4 low setting) No transmission issues, Truck serviced at regular intervals, all fluid gear train lubricant and coolant changes. 4 speed transmission fluid at 30,000 mile and engine oil at 5,000 mile intervals. Engine has had no issues, runs and idles smoothly.

2009 GMC Canyon SLE1 Crew Cab review
ONE OF THE FEW VEHICLES I'VE TRULY LIKED SO MUCH.
I'm six-four, 212 pounds, and the truck fits me ideally. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the performance is quite good. Mine has the in-line five-cylinder "Atlas" engine and four-speed automatic. Had I purchased the truck new, I may have opted for the optional V-8, but the five does quite well as is. This truck now has 275,000 miles on the odometer, and still performs beautifully.
