1986 Porsche 944 review
Few people can understand that my car has 250,000 miles and is 25 years old. Once you refresh the fluids, belts, bushings, bearings, rubber and clutch you will have one of history's top 5 handling cars... capable of running another 250k. Check the oil, brake and power steering fluid on a weekly basis and be sure that the fuel lines in the engine bay have had the Federal Recall done. Pull 3rd gear at 4,000 rpm's into a right-hand sweeper and watch your rear view mirror cars shrink.. IMHO, only a Corvette, Lotus Exige, Boxster/Cayman/GT3, most any recent Ferrari/Lambo, or an M3/M5 would handle as well as the antique 944. And none of those cars can be found running for $4,000 or less. Porsche - There is No Substitute.

I'm very fond of Porsche St. Paul. I purchased my first 911 Targa 4S GTS. My dream was purchasing the 911, but also including the European Experience. All my dreams came true. I was called for allocation. I designed my 911 dream car in St. Paul. I requested the European delivery. 1987 Porsche 944 review
The Porsche 944 is one of the greatest "drivers" cars of all time, born from Porsche racing and bred to be affordable it's excellent bang for your buck. With the front engine and rear transaxle design you get a near 50/50 weight distribution and the feeling that the car pivots around the driver in the tightest curves and handles near better than any modern car.

1989 Porsche 944 review
My first Porsche. It's 50-50 weight balance is THAT much fun to drive! For the price you pay now, you are getting a lot of technology that are on top level sports sedans and sports cars of today, even. So they are a bargain! Repair isn't a whole lot more than for most Japanese family cars. The PCA is a great reference.

Porsche St Paul review
From first contact through cars.com on my used '05 Boxster to final paperwork, the experience was excellent. Zoe Hutton had the car ready for me when I arrived. My interactions with her felt genuine and without pressure. She did everything to make sure ALL of my questions/concerns about the vehicle were answered, and went out of her way several times to get additional information for me (E.G. DME report, underbody photos, etc.), leaving no stone unturned. Overall the best salesperson I have ever dealt with at a dealership (and I've dealt with a fair number). Thank you so much Zoe! Communication about pricing was direct and unambiguous, though there was a small misunderstanding with what I owed, I chalk that up to a gap in my differentiation between the estimated price and total OTD costs which were all laid out, and the OTD price was within tens of dollars of my expectation, so I'm quite happy with that. Lea Schneider helped me work that out and was again very clear and pro-actively helpful in sorting it all out. Overall, the experience was great. The car was of course ready, clean, and full of fuel on pickup. It was obvious from the start that the people I interacted with were there to make sure I was satisfied, but not in a smarmy or obsequious way. Thanks for a wonderful buying experience!
1987 Porsche 944 review
If you want a fast car - start with a fast car! This is a 2700 lb 300hp near 50/50 balanced high performance sports car that even today 31 years later it still far exceeds what you can buy new in the sports cars under $35k range. Plus its easy to drive under all conditions, ownership costs are low for a well sorted example. Not much of a back seat.

1987 Porsche 944 review
The Naturally Aspirated isn't the fasted of the 944, but it is still quick, and turns on a dume. Way before it's time, and under appreciated it. very few complaints. I would say, as a mid-late 80's car, the electronics were what had the most issues. Since it was fuel injected, the gas mileage was always great. The car today 2018 still almost has zero rust, which is almost unheard of.

1987 Porsche 944 review
The 944 is a joy to drive the NA versions are slow car fast and handle even worn out very well. The motor is present not spectacular at low rpm it's vw 2.slow like at the top end it's all good induction noise like many non 8 cylinder German engines. Braking is decent but not modern, Interior on the early cars is cheap the later ones less cheap, seats are comfy and the hatch is very usable, exterior looks good the pop up headlights add to the screaming 1980s vibe and in the right color looks great. Starting with the cons it's not fast my but dyno tells me mine is making 110ish hp at 260,000 you want fast get a C4 or C5 Vette when the car does need work it's not cheap took $4,500 doing it all myself to bring mine back from the brink of death not great but decent for a Porsche. Interior and wear items can often be worn with age and 6+ owners (mine had 16 previous owners...) plus a 30 year old entry level sports car often being not maintained and put away wet by many previous owners. Overall can recommend one of these great handling fun to drive practical Miata's if you don't want to potentially spend alot on maintenance there are newer and cheap platforms but if your willing to put in the time it's a fantastic car
