What can I say, the benchmark of sports cars. I have a 4S Cabrio. I chose the 4 as I like all-wheel-drive, even in Florida. Better grip. The S also has more horsepower. Build quality and fit and finish our superb. The ultimate sports car without all the problems of the Italian cars. You’d be hard to find a car with better handling and Performance. I've owned a 2006 Cayman S for five years and just sold it to upgrade to my current 2010 Cayman S. Although the exterior and interior look the same from 10 feet, there are many improvements I've noticed in both as I get comfortable with this car. Much of the interior controls have been upgraded. The car is much quieter overall than my 2006. Suspension seems more compliant but still plenty capable. These cars are fast, fun, reliable and have plenty of interior storage for two-person trips. I plan to put 200,000 miles on this thing.

I bought a 2006 Cayman S three years ago. After I test drove it I was sold. I had been rear ended in my 2000 Toyota. After a few days the battery went out and my wife came to jump me off. Bought anew batter. A few weeks later fluid was leaking. I was pleased it was just the water pump. It seems people who buy this car and don’t use it have water pump problems. Eventually new brakes and a tune up. Runs like a jewel. I could not have fully appreciated this car at a younger age. Yes, it is an attention getter. I am quick to let people know it is a 2006 model. I think that keeps me grounded that I am not a helluva fellow because I own a Porsche. Oh yeah, eventually got new tires even after being told I could wait.

This car has been maligned as having reliability issues due to IMS issues and bore scoring. From what I can gather, bore scoring occurs from improper maintenance and driving beyond 7200 rpm. Maybe I am wrong as I am no mechanic--far from it. If you know the car has a good history as did mine, with one owner and regular oil changes and dealer inspections, it is hard to go wrong. I did a PPI with an independent mechanic and as far as he could see past the spark plugs he found no issues and no leaks or evidence of same on the underside. Every time I drive this car I have a smile on my face. What is that worth?

The 991.2 Porsche 911 really is the everyday sports car. Not conspicuous but also not mundane. With so many variants available, its hard not to find a 911 that fits YOUR needs and wants. The engine is sublime, the interior is refined and well built, and the cockpit ergonomics are unmatched. After driving a 911 (any variant), any other sub-150K sports car is just Meh. One of the underappreciated aspects of using this car on a daily basis is how easy it is to live with: the outward visibility is excellent, the tech is great, and the car is comfortable on long drives. When looking for your first 911, you should consider with a well-loved 991. I prefer the "Dot 2's" because of the turbo engine and the Apple CarPlay but the 991.1's have a charm of their own and shouldn't be discounted. One of the few drawbacks to any 911 is the road noise...you will have to get used to hearing those big tires hitting the road and if you drive on rough roads the majority of the time you WILL be annoyed (maybe look at a NSX or a C8 instead). Otherwise, you will not regret the ownership experience!
