This is my third Smart electric. I leased a 2013 and a 2016 electric (if I bought either, I would have had to continue leasing the battery, which didn't make sense for me). I leased a 2019 electric and, since they've stopped selling the Smart in the US, I've decided to buy this one (which comes with the battery - yay!). I love the Smart for its utter cuteness and tininess. It has like a zero degree turning radius, and I'm able to zip in and out of anywhere. It's perfect for my needs, as I tend to do mostly local driving, and I occasionally take it on the freeway if the drive isn't too long. With regenerative braking, I usually get at least 80 miles with each full charge. The only issues I've had with this car are (1) when I first picked it up, it died on me within the first week, and it took the dealer 28 days to reboot and fix everything, and (2) the cup holders aren't adjustable, so my big water bottle doesn't fit (my other Smarts had adjustable holders, so why did they change this?). After driving Smarts for 9 years, I can't really drive other cars -- they all seem so huge and cumbersome. But for longer drives, I do borrow my husband's EV, which has a longer range. I did consider at some point getting a Fiat electric and test-drove one, but it just wasn't as cute as the Smart. Its adorableness makes me happy every time I come out of a building and see it waiting for me. Even after driving it for 3 years, its cuteness still sometimes takes me by surprise!

I purchased a 2016 Toyota Tundra from Sal. He answered my questions with no pressure to purchase. I have a 2016 and I an 6’ 4” my wife is 5’ and we are both 70. We use it every day and we live in a retirement community. We can park it right beside the golf carts. It is fun to drive with good gas mileage. It is not our trip car for sure but it takes up very little space up in our garage. It feels like a regular car once you are driving it . In fact it feels like a sport car. I don’t get out of a regular car very well but this is almost like a SUV to get out of. Our other car is a Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige . When we go from the Smart to the GV70 you think you are in a Bentley! The 3 cylinder vibrates or shakes (not crazy)through the first 5 mph but after that it is fine. It is not a car for everyone but for us it is the cat’s meow. We use it every day while the GV70 goes weeks without moving.

I finally decided on a car after visiting a few times. Each time the staff was very helpful and never once made me feel pressured or pushed into buying something. I had mine for a long time, bought used as my first car, survived getting hit on the rear end, was simple enough for me and my dad to repair the few problems that popped up (at 164,000 miles) and kept going strong for me for 7 years until another accident got her totaled. I was perfectly safe from the accident, and the years I was driving it, it preformed fantastically. I see a lot of people complain about how it drives, and I will admit at first it was weird, but it really just takes you learning it. The shifts aren't random they're at specific speeds, and frankly if the shifting creates a problem you're either driving poorly or you have a mechanical problem. As long as you slowly go on the gas instead of suddenly slamming the pedal down the shifting is graceful. The issue I see some people mention about it feeling bad to control at highway speeds, I have not encountered. I drove 70mph highways 5+ times a week for years and never had a problem, did 85mph highways sometimes and still no problems. It has way enough room, I regularly had a 6'4" guy in the passenger and he was fine, I've had an almost 7 foot guy in the passenger and he admitted he was more comfortable in the Smart than any SUVs or Sedans he had been in. I'm a pretty small person so of course it's perfect for me, the turn radius and being able to park in essentially any space I want is amazing, the back actually has a lot of room and if you don't have a passenger you can extend it even more- I helped someone move with my Smart and while we didn't try furniture since we had a truck for that, it took 2 extra large boxes, a slew of plants, like 6 smaller boxes to fill gaps, 4 bags of vacuum packed linens, plus a decent amount of loose articles and knickknacks settled around, and it technically could have still held more. Absolutely fantastic car.

I love this car! It's my second smart, only this one is a convertible. It's fun to drive, cute and turns heads. The convertible top is easy to use by one person. People stop me in parking lots all the time to ask about it and to take photos. Shifting is a little rough in the lower gears, but man, will she go. I've had her up to 90mph a few times without protest from the engine. I can comfortably pass slower traffic. You get a bit of road noise at high speeds. I bought the car 900 miles from home, and really enjoyed the trip back. A small seat cushion is a good idea on long drives, but she's perfectly comfortable around town. I can park nearly anywhere, a big plus in big city parking garages and on the street. A big thumbs up for the Smart Fortwo!
