LOVE this car, maybe a little biased since this is my 5th Forester, my 2nd Wilderness. My first Wilderness was totaled in a head-on collision when a young driver spilled coffee and veered into my lane and struck me head-on. That was my 1st Subaru Forester Wilderness and IT SAVED MY LIFE. Full curtain all-around airbag deployment with a roll, the Wilderness coming to rest on it's right side, me still strapped into seatbelt, and the Subaru automatic crash notification with a live person on the speakers asking me if I was ok and needed 911! Smoke still coming from the airbag deployments, and there is a live person coming over the speakers asking me if I'm ok. It was surreal. SUBARU FORESTER WILDERNESS SAVED MY LIFE! TYVM Subaru! LOVE this car! Gets 25+ MPG with conservative driving, a great ride and suspension, superior traction in mud and snow, load-out practically anything/rack bikes (or whatever on the roof racks), sleep in the back with ample room, superior rear-gate lift mechanism with memory, seats super-comfortable and easily adjustable, solid rear-seat leg-room, easy rear-seat fold-downs for massive cargo area that takes my full HVAC tool load-out for servicing ice baths all over the NorthEast US. Fantastic dealership, my sales person was Matt . Saw my 2006 Ram on line with 91,000 on it for such a low price I thought this must be a mistake. Drive up from Delaware picked up a friend and drove over to Morgan’s i’m not kidding when I say this truck looks like it was in the show room beautiful I could not believe it if it wouldn’t of been for the year I would’ve said this truck was brand new they even put new tires on save me a lot of money there would highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a good used car no hassle no hidden fees straight up sales people thank you thank you thank you.

I have owned my 2017 Forester since late 2016. Except for normal maintenance I've had no problems with thr vehicle. All of the warning systems work very well,they have saved me from accidents numerous times. The automatic seat repositioning when some one else has used my is really handy eliminates all the adjusting needed to get the position back to my needs. Traction and controll during winter and bad weather are excellent. My forrester get used like a truck at times. Great overall car.

The dealership is first class. It was a pleasure working with someone who was down to earth and honest. He didn't have that "car salesman attitude." Our car insurance company was contacted for us therefore we had zero leg work. They used our bank of choice and dealt with them directly. My first Subaru although each of my kids had a used one as their first cars. Very well made, It is quite comfortable but I wish the seats went up a little bit more. I bought the Premium model and it has everything you could ask for. Handles great, has more than enough oomph, and I am averaging around 26.5 mpg in mostly city driving. Took a 200 mile out and back trip, and averaged 34.8 mpg. I will certainly buy another Subaru when it is time, usually every 2-3 years.

Likes: spacious interior despite modest exterior dimensions, easy to maneuver, great visibility all around, comfortable ride, good traction, handling, and braking, nice interior finish on sport model, strong steering responsive headlights yet they don't blind opposing traffic, very good optional Harmon sound system, numerous effective safety features, low insurance premiums, adequate acceleration..a few cons: actual economy slightly under EPA estimates, seat may be a bit too firm for some but easy to address by adding a thin seat cushion, mandatory sunroof on all but the base model..I wish Subaru would just make that a single option..rough engine start-stop ..however I disable it each time I start engine so it can be a non issue...no reliability issues yet but since this has a cvt and fairly complex safety features, long term reliability is unknown..

This is our second Forester. Our first was a 2011 Premium we bought as a CPO in 2014 and unfortunately went through the headache of excessive oil consumption within months of buying it. Subaru did eventually replace the engine short block on their dime, but only after repeated oil consumption tests and being told by the dealer service department that it was within normal limits. Calling Subaru of America was the only way we got it resolved. I was impressed that they approved the service, and that's the reason we bought another Subaru. We also have a 2018 Outback Premium in our garage--no oil consumption, and no major issues except replacing the radio for failed lighting behind the volume knob and a minor leak in the oil pan (no dripping underneath the car though) at about 42k miles. We like our 2023 Forester Sport overall, and first and foremost we like its excellent safety ratings and features. I will say the ride is much firmer than our Outback which is only a couple hundred pounds heavier. Wish it had a little more storage in the center console and beneath the climate controls. We look forward to many years of driving with the Forester (and our Outback). Based on our experience, I do feel getting a Subaru-backed extended warranty is worth it for peace of mind (we bought them for our first Forester and now our Outback and both eventually paid for themselves). You DON'T have to buy the warranty when you purchase the vehicle. Call different dealers in your state and ask for their price on an extended warranty for your vehicle--we saved hundreds of dollars by doing this. You have until your manufacturer warranty expires to add an extended warranty.

Had this car for seven years, never any problems, very low mileage. Very nice to drive, smooth gas mileage around 30 mpg. Traded it in for a new forester, I actually was ready to cry, when I left it. Very reliable.

I’m the 3rd owner of a 2012 Subaru Forester purchased at approx 175,000 miles and it still runs pretty good! It does burn oil up pretty quickly and mine has issues with reading the levels and won’t give me a warning light so i check the dip stick often. Mine did have exhaust issues and had to replace a rested out piping from the cat back, but mufflers were still good. Also the Oxygen sensor was a problem for awhile, which you can only use on brand for it to work properly. Gas mileage is decent for the size of the vehicle and its age. Only wish the front seats went back more bc my taller girlfriend who is 5’11 with long legs struggles to fit and be comfortable in the passenger seat.

Aaron was super helpful and kept me up to date throughout the manufacturing of my new car! It was one of the best auto buying experiences I have ever had! Highly recommend!

This is my third Subaru Forrester. I like the newer safety features and ease of handling. The size is perfect for me, not too small or too big! I would recommend if you’re looking for a midsize vehicle.

Great value considering the superior safety features, low maintenance and reliability. Rear wheel bearings have been replaced twice and just had the AC compressor and serpentine belt replaced. Albeit expensive repairs, all cars need something after the first 3 years. It's been 8 years and the car still run and drives like new.

I drove all the way from Charlotte, NC to buy a beautiful Alpine White BMW 328d touring M-Sport. These guys already had the car on ready for my test drive when I got there. It was missing the floor mats and I was ok with it but they offered to ship me some new OEM rubber ones! The Subaru Forester is indeed one of the safest cars on the road. I was in an auto accident (not my fault) and all my air bags blew. Wow, what a site--air bags everywhere! Car was totalled--got hit in front drivers side--and my only injury, aside from bruises, was a broken ankle. Impressed. Aside from that, we have had several Subarus and they have always gotten us through. The all-wheel drive system can not be beat!

I had to make a 5 1/2 hour drive recently and loved how smoothly my car drove, especially using cruise control with “eyesight” so it slowed when I was too close to the car in front of me. I couldn’t even feel it; I watched the speedometer. Love the safety features and extras like seat warmers and large sunroof.

One of the most comfortable cars I have owned. The things I love best. the reliability of the vehicle, only regular maintenance with higher miles, The huge moon roof, and the simple design of the interior of car. This car is loaded yet has very minimal control buttons which is perfect for me rather than trying to figure out how to operate everything. Best car I have ever owned especially buying used with high miles.

I bought my 2009 forester with 200k on the click. She was well locked after but has a few scratches here and there but paint work is still beautiful. Performance is great but she is heavy on fuel. This is expected from an AWD as the engine is pulling all 4 wheels continuously at the same time. No oil leaks, aircon works well. The only major issue I have had was the thermostat falling. I caused my radiator to crack due to pressure building up. I removed it and she is running perfectly. I live at the coast in South africa so our winter temp never drop below 10° and our summer average at 30°. Overall, I'll will be buying another forester with it's great space and power....love it

Bought my 2015 Subaru 2.0XT Touring brand spanking new off the Subaru dealership's lot. Have owned it all this time about 9 years straight. Take care of your car with regular oil changes, servicing at recommended intervals, and your car will take care of you. Performed the required recalls during service periods. Not 1 single regret on owning this car, ever. It rides smooth and true. Had a clicking issue in the ball joints 2 years ago which Subaru fixed free of charge. Other than that, this car has been my dream machine.

The radio and the heat settings leave a lot to be desired. If you’re looking for a heater setting, you won’t find it. Nothing annoys me more than unrequested updates on flood watch/warning. it just can’t be tailored to exactly where you live. But every 6 minutes is a bit of overkill. And our previous Forester had a tray in the middle storage (glove box). Even though we asked our salesman about that, we have heard nothing. Missing the change tray a lot.

This is a follow up review, I did have to change the head gaskets out on my 2010 forester. I've seen this is common, once again, the work is able to be done by a DIY mechanic. Since 2020 Ive had to change the ignition coil, spark plug wires, head gaskets in February of 2024, and also the crankshaft position sensor. The car had 165,000 miles when the head gaskets needed changed. So far it has 173,000 miles and still runs well. Also changed were the clutch and throwout beairng, and another timing belt change. It still runs very well, the exhaust is getting rusty and have had to fix that, overall its been a good car. I've owned it for 12 years and the ability to work on it yourself is what I really like about it, it isn't fast, but its quite utilitarian and my dog loves it as well. So if you don't mind working on your own stuff its one of the easiest cars to work on with the way the engine is oriented in the longitudinal position. I've always changed the oil every 4-5000 miles since I've had it, the heads and valves were completely clean. I'd say if one keeps up the servicing on these they are good vehicles to own. Not looking forward to when it blows, they don't make plain cars like this now adays.

I purchased the 2023 Wilderness trim in August and I chose it because I live in a very snowy and mountainous area. I certainly needed an upgrade from my trusty 2wd, low-clearance hatchback. I can watch the season change with more peace of mind with its high clearance, AWD and features like Starlink and X-mode ready to step in when called upon. I’m a huge fan of the vehicle’s exterior styling and the interior feels luxurious and durable. The cabin is well-insulated from engine and road noise. One drawback is that the sound system lacks depth even with the base turned all the way up (I don’t have the Harmon Kardon stereo option). I’ve never owned a car with a sunroof before and I love letting in extra daylight and looking up at the cliffs and trees during stops so I can’t imagine life without it, now. Even the low beam headlights provide clear-as-day visibility on the darkest nights, but I’d be worried about blinding other drivers so I’d give more follow distance. Many reviewers seem dissatisfied with its acceleration, but it hasn’t felt underpowered to me and I drive a Chevy Suburban for work. It feels like I’m barely touching the accelerator to cruise up steep grades, but I’m a leisurely driver so my expectations differ. :)

I have had a 21, 23 and now a 25 Subaru Forester Premium and over the years they have gotten better. I didn’t think I would like the large screen but now after two weeks of driving it, I’m loving it. It is a safe and reliable vehicle for small families and seniors like me.

My service entailed having them mount my bike rack on to the new car. It required some small modification to the fender. They did a great job.

My biggest problem with the forester is the infotainment system and the tom tom navigation. The infotainment is laggy at best. It can take two seconds per press to respond. And the tom tom? What? Did tom tom give Subaru a deal on 80s technologies. Recently I asked for a dollar tree and it changed it to 03. I have asked for vorhees and it kept trying to change it to Glendale? xxx. It is not barely usable, it is absolutely unuseable, that part of this car is a xxx.
