2002 Toyota ECHO Review
322K miles and still going. I love this Car
by Echo Lover from Tampico, Illinois
April 17, 2019

I bought it new in 2002. I have used it when my kids were teens to hall them, their friends and all the stuff that goes along with them. I load all my camping stuff in it (mostly in the trunk yes there is a system) I can get 25 2x4s from one end to the other inside. I now hall my massage table in it. Now 2019 it has a bit of rust but not bad. I love the layout. The sales person was 6’4” and sat in the back seat to show me how much room it has. It has 5 cup holders and lots of storage most cubbies hold many CDs. I originally wanted it because of the placement of the speedometer on the dash (I drove at night thought it was safer to look on the dash rather than down, the safety and because Toyota’s have a reputation of lasting for many miles. My husband is a big guy and he fits nicely inside even with his hat on. I almost forgot to tell about the two glove compartments and the drawer under the passenger seat. That’s an amazing and useful idea! I used to drive an hour one way to work and the echo is the car that got me there. Oh she has started every winter with no problem. Even when nobody else’s vehicle would start my echo did.. I’m not saying she liked it but I got where I had to go. Just for reference, I live in northern Illinois and she is kept outside.

An absolute Diamond in the Rough

I was sceptical about buying a car off of 82nd due to the horror stories. I am super glad I looked past the reviews, and gave it a shot. My contact was Rick. He is absolutely amazing! He answered a million and one questions I kept hammering at him, and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. I found a Wrangler that seemed too good to be true, and was waiting for the other shoe to drop. My credit process had a little hic-up that Rick took the time to find another way and hit it out of the park with the % rate. I showed up for my test drive, and he was already heading my way calling my name. We gave this vehicle a good driving and look over. This Wrangler was in immaculate condition all the way around. RIck made this process enjoyable, and simple. He literally did all the work for me. He was not only professional, but also extremley personable at the same time. I would definately recommend RIck, should you be looking for the perfect vehicle at a great price. Thanks! One very Super Happy Customer

Love this car, it’s great on gas, super comfortable (even on road trips), handles like a little sports car, and it’s insanely reliable, 300k miles and going strong, couldn’t kill it if you tried

Incredible Car
by Aries from Stirling, Alberta, Canada

We bought the 4-door model brand new in 2003. It’s November 2018 and it is still going strong! We are a family of four and though sometimes getting all of us in the car along with major grocery shopping or camping gear can be a bit tight, the car is more than reliable, and has loads of trunk space. I commute a good 100km (hwy) to and from work daily and it has never let me down. Mileage is incredible - we’re still getting 40 miles to the gallon. We currently have over 426,000 km and no major repairs. We have always been vigilant with oil changes, fluid checks and tire rotations. The only thing I miss is armrests, but it’s a very minor inconvenience. This car is bulletproof! Going to hate it when finally putters out, but we’ll definitely be purchasing another Toyota!

Super reliable car
by Titi 1943 from Okanagan, BC

This car was an excellent Purchase. Purchased it brand new in 2001. Sold it to my grand daughter in May of 2018. This car had cost me the usual - summer and winter tires, a couple of batteries, and 1 set of brakes in 2016. When sold it had over 268,000 k and still running perfectly. This was an automatic with air. All the rest was manual. Happy to recommend this car to anyone, but unfortunately unable to purchase a new one in the Okanagan as they do not carry the sedan only the hatch back that I did not want. Furthermore, unable to purchase a car they don’t carry on the lot, only available in Quebec.

Keep up with regular maintenance. It will last.

We bought our 2001 echo used with 65000 miles in 2010. We now have 218000 miles on it. We have regular oil, fluid, tire, plug, and battery replacements. We have belts and hoses replaced 2 times. We have replaced the original starter 9 months ago. We had to replace 1 ignition coil and tappit cover gasket 3 months ago. Not as good as a tercel. But, better than a yaris.

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon after finding some great deals from this place on cars.Com. We have had some trouble finding reliable cars recently, but were so happy to find Indianapolis Motorsports. We had some good options to consider just walking on to the lot and the agents here were the most fair I've experienced with pricing and reliability. I would most definitely recommend this place to any friend or family member who needs a great option for a used car. I will look here first when I'm in the market again.

The best reliable car ever
by Ripi from Brooklyn

I had my 2003 Toyota Echo for over 15 years now. It has taken me and my family to many places safely. The car doesn't require much work, but the basic oil change and check up on tires and brakes. My starter stopped working along with something else that the mechanic shop is currently working on. My fingers are crossed hoping it's not the engine. This all happened after the 15 years mark and I have over 110,00 miles on it. If I can get a new one with 4 doors and an automatic window, i would gladly buy it. I have the 2 door with wind up windows and I love it. Lol. Hope this helps someone decision to buy an Echo.

Bought second F-150 at Tropical this past Saturday on May 21, 2016, plus a 2005 Mustang several years ago. Devon Bignall in Sales is incredible, as is Jose Gutierrez in Financing......both are friendly, professional, and very experienced. They make the car/truck buying experience a pleasure, not a nightmare. Jay Logue knows his products inside and out. Sales Mgr. Jack Grace, Sales Mgr, is a good guy too. Can't say enough about the atmosphere at this place. I will be back.

This car took a while to get used to. The first car I drove that had the speedometer in the middle. Looks on the outside were ok and inside was youre typical subcompact car but the ride was pretty good. Very reliable and had no issues. Very good for the money. Its too bad they dont make them anymore.

Amazing and worth it!

I walked in looking to purchase a BMW and had a great experience with Rima and his employees. The fact that the owner is part of his team and is present to assist me was a big deal, and something I really appreciate because it says a lot about his company and dedication. Their indoor showroom and great selection of luxury and sport cars to choose from is perfect and maintained properly and clean. I picked the M3 I wanted and sealed the deal. This is my second experience at AutoSource and I enjoy buying from them because I don't feel pressured to buy and they give me options with proper advice to back up their prices and info. ny BMW was detailed and filled up on fuel for delivery as promised. And if you don't buy a car from them, at least get to know Rima because he knows what he is doing and can give you advice whether you buy from him or not. I am a happy buyer :)

Best small car

I bought the 2003 Echo new in the fall of 2002. It just came out and they had one on the lot. I needed a car quickly since my other car just died. I loved it from the first day. It was quiet ,fast and very enjoyable do drive. Today is 2018 and I have 266 000 km it, never any repair and everything original in it except battery and brakes off course. Never a light bulb burnt out in this 16 years. I drove it all year round city and highway. In this category the car is amazing. I have an Infiniti G35X also and off course the Echo is not that ,but I drove many small cars before but the Echo was by far the best. Now only drive it from April to September and wonder how many more years I will have this great little car without any problem. Now this is more like an experiment.

Went in to look at a few vehicles I saw on cars.com. wound up purchasing a 2007 Mercedes E350 earlier today. Picking it up in the morning. Great customer service by all the staff. Gave me a lot of their time so I would feel comfortable in making the right decision. Got a great deal. Will recommend All Sales to my friends.

Allie was professional and friendly. I didn???t see Dave Merchant anywhere so I hope he???s OK. I was very glad to see dark roast K-cups added to your selection. I did receive a car wash code but when I drove around to the car wash both bays were blocked with orange cones. When I called from my car, the young man who answered didn???t seem to understand what I was trying to tell him. I don???t know if the car wash was broken or what but he did not seem at all interested in helping me find out. And for what it???s worth, discontinuing the Scion xB was the biggest mistake Toyota ever made. I love my Scion!😍

We purchased a 2018 Corolla iM (our 3rd car). I want to keep the 2001 ECHO, and we also own a 2008 Scion XD, but we only have a 2-car garage in a townhouse set up. It’s hard to let go of a low-maintenance but a very reliable car. It’s the lightest, easiest, least stressful, and most economical to drive among 5 cars that we’ve owned (for the price).
