My MR2 Spyder is the most exhilarating and fun car to drive. Reliable, head turner, classic. Fire Engine Red, I find the rear engine design awesome, and the acceleration and handling amazing.

So, I've reached that age, and hairline where all good men decide to buy a roadster. I started my search with the MR2. After having a 4Runner (the mule) for many years, I am convinced that the Toyota reliability is no myth. However, I was tempted to go the Boxster, Z3, Z4 path. After having a Z4 fall off of the market before I could get out to see it, I began looking back at that MR2 that started my search. I called the owner, and arranged the test drive. Then I bought it on sight. Sure there are more powerful roadsters, but it isn't about that. It is about fun. This is one fun little car. It is remarkably comfortable as well. I'm not sure how, but the seats are road trip worthy, and leg room is ample. You don't feel confined. I will say that there is no dignified way of getting into or out of the vehicle. Then again, as a middle aged, bald, white guy - dignity isn't my first concern. Anyway, if you have the opportunity to buy one of these, you really should. It is just a fun piece of solid engineering.

Great fun to drive. Not at all practical. If you want a super reliable and economical convertable to have fun the Spyder is for you. 32 mpg at any speed. We love to take it to the mountains and enjoy the superb handling.

Lots of fun, head turner, reliable (it's a Toyota after all). I gives you the sensation of an exotic with the mid-engine setup. Some people actually mistake is as a Ferrari! It handles like a go kart and will always put a smile on your face when driving it. I have the turbo engine, so it's got the power too, with an extensive aftermarket and great community to get help or ask questions.

We found a [surprisingly] sought-after example of a Honda Element at Midwest Auto, for our son - four hours away from our home. A 22yr old car, with over 100k miles on the odo. I expected a decent car with some issues, for what I paid. Instead, I got the cleanest Vtec the local, mobile mechanic had ever seen. He climbed all over that car for 1.5 hours and thoroughly drove and code tested it - both past/recent codes and “likely fail” codes. I have a four year old, bought-new minivan that wouldn’t have tested that clean. I drove the four hours home with no trepidation whatsoever. I feel like I stole this car. The mechanic told me that he sees a lot of “good cars” come out of Midwest. Not only was the sale easy, no-pressure and quick, (as we knew what we wanted), they were accommodating and incredibly friendly. I’ve owned a lot of cars and after what I experienced, I would buy from this dealer sight-unseen and ship with no fear. ANY used car WILL have some issues - new ones do now! - but this one doesn’t need anything but what anyone should do for any car. It’s getting a fresh alignment and a new battery. That’s it. This is easily the cleanest decades-old ride I’ve ever bought. Five stars.

So fun! Avoid early models with big problem on cats. I learned the hard way as my engine was scrap as sold from a Toyota dealer in Northern MI. SHAME on you Serra Toyota! Good news. add 2zz-ge engine and C-60 transmission and this car is a completely different machine! Mr. P

This car is super fun! Love the styling. Very Comfortable for even taller people. It sits low and hugs the road. A/C is nice with the top down. Wind screen is nice to keep the wind out of the interior. Nice locking space behind the seats. Fits a few groceries. Stereo radio/ CD works well.

A ton of inventory with excellent prices and excellent staff. They had quite a few options fitting what I was looking for with great prices! Will be back for my next one.

It's not the fastest, or the most luxurious, but a 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder is a rear engine RWD headturner, that is a joy to drive, especially curvy or mountain roads. Most people dont know what it is, but they sure like it. Storage is minimal behind the two seats. Remove the spare tire to get a little more. Pack light, Get the top down, Hit the road, and Enjoy.

I always wanted a Miata, but their interiors are so small, I am 6'2" and 235 lbs. I fit quite comfortably in my MR2 Spyder. With a 5 speeed manual and excellent mid engine handling, the car is a gas to drive. There is a real feeling of driving engagement. I am getting 31 mpg. Never had a problem. Toyota reliability. With such limited production lots of people have no idea what it is and I get questions. Yes, storage is pretty limited, but this wasn't made for family cross country treks. I purchased the car in April 2017 with 42k miles and now I have 50k with no problems.

My wife and I were in the market to purchase my son a pre-owned jeep, and we wanted something that was already fixed up so we found TCD. They had a great selection to choose from. Once we arrived at the dealership you could tell that this was going to be different than any other car buying experience we've had. Jack was first to introduce himself. He was not a fast-talking silver tongue devil like a "like i probably was" stereotypical car salesman that you might be used to. He was a quiet young man that spoke at the right time and when it was necessary. He listens to our wants and needs and never asked us to remind him over and over! It was a subtle character quality that he possessed, and I didn't think too much about it while we were there, but it was a refreshing quality Jack was very knowledge about the vehicle as well. The vehicle we were interested in was a new trade in, so it wasn't quite ready, so I tell you this to say the way the dealership as a whole jumped in to help get the vehicle sales floor ready, was awesome! You could tell that this wasn't their first rodeo! Next was Tina the GM this gal was on top of her game. Very sweet and accommodating but you could tell on the other side of that coin was a savvy tough businesswoman that was going to be fair but by no means going to be taken advantage of! She settled my early onset buyer's remorse that i could feel brewing with transparency. Mo finished up our car deal and was also the finance guy! I loved that cause once we came to an agreement, we shook hand and started banging out paperwork! Mo was an awesome dude very knowledgeable with all the different extended warranties packages which i never did until we bought our last used vehicle and needed to use it on the way home from the dealer. We were in and out in no time. Lastly the Owner Austin! how cool is it for the owner of the dealership to make himself available to his customers. He personally helped my wife and I with whatever we needed or questions we had. It was nice not to have to wait for a salesman to run ask the manager a question then run back with and answer! By the time he got back I probably had 3 or 4 more question to send him running back with! lol Austin was personable and kind! Which was a breath of fresh air this day in time. This was also after the dealership had closed on a Sat night! A few things that are small but can make or break a car deal is that they had fresh free hotdogs cooking all day with 5 or 6 different flavors of soda pop obviously coffee with one of those fancy coffee makes with different flavors of coffee and cappuccino, clean bathrooms and something as a parent and someone that used to sale cars they had a nice selection of boys and girls toys! if you've ever tried to purchase a car with a bored toddler forget about it! the salesman can feel the words we're going to have to come back without the kids. that's how the dealership down the street with toys just made your customer their latest car buyer! Shout out to Scot and Bryan as well! They weren't involved in my car deal but did a good job at making us feel welcome and at ease! Sorry about them Aggie's buddy! I get great gas mileage. It handles great. I've owned it 6 years, I've had no issues with it. 2002 with 120,000. Miles and still going strong!

Here is a review of my start to finish process of buying a car from Gateway Classic Cars, Ft. Lauderdale: ----- 1. The sales people who you work with are not on site. They're working remote so they don't have eyes on the car. ---- So, 2. You'll want to be connected with someone on site who can start and drive the car, provide a walkaround video, pictures of whatever you want and give their input. I worked with Alex at the Ft. Lauderdale location for my purchase and he was outstanding with helping me to know the car before making an offer. He is the reason that this is a 5 star review. -------- 3. Hauling: They'll get you a quote for hauling the vehicle. I chose Nexus Transport myself to use. They were a bit cheaper and top rated by Forbes. That went just fine. --------- 4. These cars are all on consignment. So, I feel that you have to be a little more careful because you have another party who may not have disclosed things to Gateway. Best practice is to get a pre-buy done from someone like Lemon Squad. That being said, I was so comfortable with my deal, took the risk and waived the pre-buy. And in my case, the Prowler is a mint gem and I have no concerns after receiving it. Also, there is a common thought then you buy a car like this, you should budget 10% or so of the price for maintenance right after you get the car because stuff always comes up, otherwise, don't buy a used car. --------5. Since they're on consignment, they have commissions they charge the seller. As a buyer, I don't care if I see a commissions line on the purchase agreement. As long as my out the door number was what I offered, that's fine. --------6. I wired money to them and within a few hours, I had all the fully executed paperwork back in my hands. Title took about 3 weeks to receive by UPS. And the folder had everything I needed to register the car in my state. Wow! Thank you Barbara! ------ 7. So here is what breeds loyalty. Alex at the Ft. Lauderdale location made sure the car was completely ready to be picked up including accessories that were bubble wrapped. The car was supposed to be picked up at Noon on Saturday, plenty of time before they closed at 5pm. He stayed until the truck arrived...very late....AT 1:30am Sunday morning!!!! (Otherwise, it would have sat until Tuesday). I cannot believe he did that for me. I received my car loading video at 2am. That's unbelievable service that deserves more than 5 stars. ------- Summary: I'd have zero issues with buying from Gateway again....they just operate in a different dealership style than what I'm used to, which is just fine.

This mid engine race car is classic and full of life. The 80's square look was on fleek with the decals and the pop up lights. The tight and low center geometry makes this a blast to drive and the size makes it easy on gas.

Don't test drive a '90s MR2 turbo unless you want to own one. If it's in good condition you won't be able to stop thinking about it until it's in your driveway. Then you'll find yourself peeking through the blinds at night just to get another look before bed. The only comparable cars come from Italy and cost 5-10x more.
