I bought my Tundra on 8/2002. I am the original owner and couldn’t be happier with my truck. I inspected the undercarriage recently when l had my catalytic converters changed and there was absolutely no rush to speak of. The 4.7 liter V8 is bulletproof. I changed the timing belt at 110k, l have 190,500 miles on it now so due for another timing belt inspection and change. I often ponder getting another vehicle but think l will stick with my truck for a few more years or until it gives up the ghost. I’ve only owned 4 vehicles in my life: 1973 Pontiac Grand Am - 9 years 1985 4x4 Toyota Pick Up with the 22R engine - 13 years 1998 Toyota Tacoma with a 2.7 liter engine - 4 years 2002 Toyota Tundra with the V-8 engine - 24 years My 2002 Tundra is the best of the 4 however you could make a strong argument for my 1985 truck which was stolen after l owned it for 13 years. A great little truck and my first experience owning a Toyota vehicle. It had a 5 speed manual transmission and manual locking hubs for the 4 wheel drive. It had 133,000 miles on it when stolen with the original clutch. I still miss that little truck, a true workhorse despite its size.

The 5.7 iforce in this thing is a beast. It’s an all aluminum big v8 motor with a double overhead valve train, and old fashioned water pump mounted fan assembly. The steady clatter from the heads at idle remind me of a Diesel engine and I love it. Another thing I love about this monster is it’s torque. Even at low rpms, this motor pulls hard, she doesn’t need to down downshift going up hills pulling heavy loads. The transmission shifts are as smooth as milk, it’s tuned perfectly to the motor and will hold a gear just fine in overdrive so you don’t have to worry about it switching gears back and forth like a ford because it lacks low end torque. That being said, the engineers at Toyota stuffed In a beefy rear end and equipped it was a super low 4.30 gear if you have the tow package, excellent for accelerating a heavy load without breaking anything and lighting up your rear tires whenever your wife decides to stay home. You touch that gas peddle and that big 5.7 will blow your wife’s back out if you catch her off guard. I really like that about this truck, it’s a lot of fun. Don’t have to much fun though because the gas needle moves at an alarming rate if you get carried away. I’d opt for the larger 38 gallon fuel tank. Your gonna need it if your like me and enjoy lighting up your tires every now and again or realigning your buddy’s spinal cord. This truck has a very smooth ride and at times, feels like I’m driving over clouds the way it floats over potholes and dips like they’re non existent. The interior is very simple, and easy to use. It doesn’t have a hundred fancy buttons in it and hidden features your never going to use like a lot of these late model trucks that take forever to learn. What you see is what you get and nothing more, perfect. One last thing, they literally last forever. Buy one and don’t look back!

I hate to sell this truck but life changes. It looks great, has great power, comfort, economy. Oil change every 5k. Every mx issue address immediately. Someone is gonna be really happy with this truck.

I started the buying process online, but I came into the dealership to complete the process and the paperwork. I enjoyed working with Dionel Graham. He took the time to patiently answer all my questions. He helped me transfer all my stuff from my trade-in. He even transferred my old license plate to my new car.

Almost a classic now, but still runs like a new one. Only brand I’ll ever own. And will always have atleast 1 second generation around.

only had the truck for a little while now but the power if the 5.7 is instant. I came from a midsize truck and I don't think ill ever look back. From Ford to Toyota I'll never buy something that isn't Toyota.

Ok, I've had Chevys and Fords, many of them. This is a whole different situation. It takes some getting used to. It has big gears and you will spin your tires taking off until you master the throttle. Lots of power. Big breaks, stopping power is amazing. I like the utilitarian set up. Heater works great in -20 weather. 4x4 is true not AWD, it's locked. Shifts on fly which is essential. MPG is totally fine at 15 avg, 17 hwy. It shifts great and you can tell it's highly reliable. No repairs, zero shop time. Um yeah, pretty xxxx happy. It's just a beast. Built in toolbox under back seat and great storage layout. Put some good tires on it and don't look back. I'm at 140k miles, zero issues.

Worked with Mike Carter in purchasing our new 2024 Grand Highlander. Mike worked tirelessly to find us the car we wanted, a storm cloud blue, with black wheels, fully loaded platinum with very rare and hard to find Portobello Brown Leather Interior. Mike pulled it off and found us one that was allocated at another dealership. He was able to make an inside trade and got that car coming here for us. He kept us updated throughout the entire build and delivery process. Now let me say, I visited a couple of dealerships before visiting Titus Will and was met with Pushy sales people. The other dealers were also trying to cram $500 3rd brake light pulse system (which is a $15 part on amazon and takes 10 mins to install) as well as clear door edge guards for $800 (which is about $20 on amazon and takes about 5 mins to install) It's absolutely ridiculous what the other dealerships were trying to pull off.... AND they would absolutely refuse to remove the option because "it was already installed on the vehicle" Now coming to Titus Will, the only thing they tried to add on was a SWAT GPS Tracker. Which of course, I didn't want and they had no issue removing that option. I was pleasantly surprised when they agreed to do that. I was able to negotiate a fair price for our trade-in and once that was all settled the paperwork process was very smooth. The Finance Manager was very pleasant, showed us all the options but was not pushy at all. The Dealership was very neat, clean and tidy and they had a very nice self serve espresso coffee bar. Our Vehicle was waiting in the covered, indoor delivery bay, freshly detailed and ready to go. All the employees we dealt with were very pleasant and professional. Overall, we were VERY pleased with our experience and highly recommend TITUS WILL TOYOTA OF TACOMA!

I had all the major USA manufacturers of 1/2 ton trucks, they were all junk. Rust was a huge problem, granted I live in the rust belt, but my Ram truck was rusting before the first 4 years of it's life with body rot, but because that rot didn't go all the way through the warranty would not cover it, it eventually did rot through about a year after the warranty expired; the Ford the frame rotted the worse followed by the body, the frame got so bad in just 10 years the vehicle had to be junked; the Chevy had a lot of body rot too but started about 4 years after the Ram did; all their transmissions failed within 110,000 miles. Numerous repairs starting about 60,000 miles. Now the my 5.7 flex fuel double cab Tundra SR5 4X4 is 15 years old and not a spot of rust, it has 118,000 miles and not one single repair. Maintenance cost about $340 a year for 2 oil changes and whatever other maintenance stuff comes up due to the mileage. It is the most comfortable riding truck I've ever owned but in all fairness all trucks have been improving their ride quality over the years. Performance is the best of any truck I've had by a lot; the MPG is also better than any truck I had before, my worse MPG I had was the Ford that got 6 mpg towing, otherwise it was 10 in the city and 14 on the highway, the Tundra in comparison gets 12 while towing, 16 in the city and 20 to 21 highway. The SR5 is a pretty much a basic pickup with very little in options, so the interior is not grandiose, but it's a truck not a limousine! The radio/CD player and speakers are also just the base stuff, so the sound is ok. Even though the interior is the low end stuff it's holding up extremely well, there is no wear showing on the seats or anywhere else. The exterior trim parts are all holding up extremely well. While Toyota Tundra does cost more in the used market, and that's because of their known reliability, it is more than worth the extra price I had to pay, it also means that if I sell the truck I'll get more for it. I use the truck for my business, and for hauling my RV trailer, and my friend's boat when we go fishing.

The Tundra has the best sun visors in the business..The only gripe I gave is the exhaust manifolds...Totota used too thin a guage steel for the job...they will get pitting holes in thrm...I failed several vehicle inspections with them.I consider them to be a hazzard and should be recalled.No action taken by Toyota on them yet.

Inherited this truck in 2005 from my father the original owner and it's very reliable with minimal repairs. My only complaint is where they put the starter. It lasted 150k but replacing it was a bit of a job. The truck is very comfortable and it's a good size,kind of in between a compact and a full size. 20 years old and I would jump in and drive it anywhere.

Purchased the 08 tundra 8 years ago with 141k miles. Sitting at 243k now and it still drives the same as when I bought it. Other than maintenance & the things I wanted to add the Only thing I’ve replaced is the ac pump. For a half ton pickup I wouldn’t go with any other make. Would take it anywhere…tows and drives great while it still looks good going down the road!

I bought my 2002 Tundra SR5 in February of 2020 with 197,000 miles on it. In the three years since then I have put 24,000 on it, and (not counting brakes/tires, normal wear parts), I have had no mechanical issues with it whatsoever. I changed the timing belt and water pump at 215,000. It pulled a double-axle Uhaul trailer through the the Ozark mountains with no issues ~ even passed a semi on an uphill climb. These trucks last forever and hold their value very well. My only real complaint is that on long trips the seats can get uncomfortable. That's really it. It is a simple, straightforward, and ultra-reliable truck. I will be buying another Tundra soon.

I have a one owner 2002 Toyota Tundra long bed with automatic transmission with under 57000 miles on it. I installed a bed cover, running boards and fender flares (so people couldn't ding my truck. I never had any accidents, don't smoke, and everything works; radio, air, etc. I love my truck.

I absolutely love my truck , there were a few issues that having a friend do repairs wasn't quite the way I should've handled this experience. My truck has an interference engine which he has never heard of, therefore instead of taking all the tundra gurus ' advice from the experienced and knowledgeable,he just kept throwing parts at it in hopes to miraculously get it right. But unfortunately,due to my lack of funds and the only person I could get to work on my truck at no charge, it now sounds like a diesel, mpg is not up to par, performance power not as it was prior. Imo he changed a few things that were not necessary. The timing belt is a critical component,especially when you are running interference! I tried to point out the main factors in the upkeep to avoid destroying the engine but he basically ignored what I was explaining. A timing belt replacement sounds easy enough...... there's much more to it if you don't want to dismantle the engine repeatedly. Water pump,hoses,radiator, along with the belt, I may not have nentioned the full line up,the point is that everything component that is in junction with the belt may as well all be replaced at approximately 80-90,000 miles. The last thing you want is the belt to break while in use!!! Yep if it does, look for a new ,used or rebuild engine,the damage will be disastrous. What I like most having the interference engine is the performance in power, I love the power my tundra had. Had will be a has been ,I'm determined to have it all corrected by a toyota pro. I trust my 02 tundra to never leave me stranded, as it never has. I am at almost 300,000 miles. NEVER SKIMP ON FLUIDS, I am OEM all the way when it comes to parts beneath the hood,AND I only feed NON ETHANOL FUEL to my tundra. Another tip when replacing anything under the hood, best to change both. If you tear down to change gaskets, best bet is all at once save your time for taking trips in your tundra. The headlights could've been better factory quality but when it comes to smooth comfort,reliability,2002 toyota tundra sr5 4.7L is most definitely worth every penny, imo one of the best years of tundra , most definitely out of the first generation. My granddaughter says she wants my truck, by the time she's able to drive I may not . I have no doubt in my mind that this tundra could be on the road with her for at least 10 or more years. She is only 13.

My 2002 tundra limited access cab 4 door has 230,000 miles on it with just regular maintenance and hundreds of oil changes. Wears tires perfect and has never been aligned. Why buy a new truck when this one will last me probably till I DIE.

I live in Northwest Ohio and did an exhaustive search for a few different makes and models of interest. One of my top choices was a white Lincoln MKZ with tan interior. I found one in Akron at Akron Auto Sales. First thought was an hour and forty five minute drive just to look at it. Then I started doing my homework. The car passed all of my criteria especially with plenty of good pictures and a link to the car fax right there. Their cars are personally cherry picked from local new car dealer trade ins and not purchased at auctions. Now I have to figure out if this place is worth my time. With a fine tooth comb I read every review, testimonial and anything I can find on them. Outstanding. They are BBB A+ accredited and never had a complaint in over 30 years. They have a repair shop and mechanics right there to not only back up their warranty but perform service for anyone looking for repair. Very happy with what I found out I made a call and spoke to one of the owners. Dave is an incredibly sharp guy and we had great conversation with not a hint of the car salesperson in him. I liked not having to fend off the usual and customary predatory practices out of the gate. After the call I decided to make the trek. I called back to arrange seeing the car and spoke to the other owner Rachael who is absolutely awesome! She has the most effervescent personality and just like her brother she didn't come off as a car salesperson. Bonus! I am not a fan of car salespeople and am always on guard which is the reason I prefer private owners. Now two phone calls with very nice people don't make a deal but I had all of the reviews living rent free in my head and my intuition told me to take the shot. From the instant you walk through their door you have one minute before your car buying experience and expectations will be changed forever. If you're out shopping and you put on your Teflon suit preparing for the car selling tactics, sales pitches, cloaked scenes you're in for a very pleasant surprise here. Your heart rate will slow, blood pressure will drop and you'll instantly be immersed in a euphoric feeling of friendship and family. Rachael and Dave are phenomenal people with infectious personalities and a mission to carry on a tradition of being different all started by their father who brought integrity, fairness and value to a murky and often shady business of selling cars. I've bought and sold a lot of cars in life and this was THE best experience hands down. I have high standards and it takes a lot to impress me and they met and exceeded all of what I wanted. I've owned my Tundra for 7 1/2 years now and have over 307,000 miles on it. I replaced the starter at 300,000. Other than that it's been only basic maintenance. It's still as nice, comfy and powerful as it was when I bought it. I would have no problems jumping in it and driving anywhere. I have hauled boats, campers and other things all over the country without a problem. Under the primary use of this car it should have an "All the above" option.
