The Driver's Car
This car is meant to perform. With regular maintenance and wear an tear items the vehicle has been great and reliable. Been doing Volkswagens for over 20 years now. Even though I work on them myself and for many others in my area these cars are amazing and fit my personal needs for performance and style. As well as luxury.

1995 Volkswagen GTI VR6 review
Very practical!
Whether you want a little hot hatch, or a get around car that gets decent MPG the GTI Vr6 is a great candidate. I've been driving mine for two years so far, maintenance isn't hard, parts are reasonable, and the effort is rewarded every time you hop in and take it for a cruise. It is a blast to drive and really lets out a nice tone when you stomp on it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, or do whatever it takes to keep this thing running till I'm good and ready for a newer model! Fantastic car. Now for the few draw backs- Cup holders are difficult to use. Needs another gear, cruises a bit high for my liking. Interior is a little bland, but not THAT bad. The hatch loves to collect dirt and dust. Hard to find one that someone didn't "Modify"

2013 Volkswagen GTI Driver's Edition review
A bit higher maintenance costs but worth it for me
Seating is fine and comfortable. Handling is fine. The DSG is awesome. When clean the vehicle looks beautiful. To me anyways. The carbon buildup needs to be cleaned periodically. That is pricey. The DSG costs around 400 for service and happens every 40k. Outside of that the maintenance costs aren't egregious. The headliner has seperated but I use thumb tacks to keep in place. The material is also separating on the driver side door. The rest of the interior has held up good. Car is 7 years old with 90k in mileage. Would I buy one again? I will keep this GTI till it is no longer worth keeping. Then I may get the GTI R. VW's are good vehicles but you must do the maintenance. If you do the maintenance then the vehicle is as reliable as anything else out there. Don't do the maintenance and the vehicle will degrade quickly.
