I went in to get my car looked at for a general 50k inspection, it is a 2017 Crosstrek. Well it was supposed to be an hour, but my wife got stuck there longer because they never read the online booking notes of the check engine light and tire inflation lights were constantly on. Well she was stuck there for another hour. They come back with a recommended service bill of nearly $7k! They have been texting me all morning before the appointment that they are interested in buying the car. Well with this type of bill, I was tempted to purchase a new car then instead. I take a $50 Uber from work to get there and test drive a car I am interested in. Throughout this process I have repeatedly asked what they can give me as a trade in value. They said "that is not their process" and cannot give me a trade in quote until we get to the final step of the process. At this point I'm pretty interested in the new car. I tell them that I do not want any of the service packages and for sure don't need GAP insurance as I'm putting $5k down on a card and using the trade-in value. I explicitly said I am only doing the financing because I didn't expect to buy a car today, and would payoff the loan in 2 months after all the titling and registry work passed the DMV. We get to the end, and they hand me the financing statement. The sales person Michelle has included the servicing packages and GAP insurance. They are also only offering me $7k for my trade in saying that the car needed all this work. Majority of the work is labor and not parts. The financing statement has about $10k in line-items I specifically stated I didn't want. The final financing statement came out to $28k..... the price of the car alone was only $28k!!! So the math of $5k in cash + $7k in trade in, and they still snuck in things to make the financing total the same price of the car. I told them if they could give me $9k for my trade in and removed all the other packaged items I didn't want, I would sign and leave with a new car. They refused to negotiate on the trade-in. Now I'm even more mad because of this coupled with the unwanted packages. My wife and I get up and paid $175 for the oil change and inspection and walked out. Loss of sale of a new car and all they made was $175. The only reason I am giving two stars is that Quintin in the servicing department was very helpful. My wife walked in at 10am, and she and I walked out of the dealership at 3:30pm. -
Beyond disappointed with their Internet consultant Raul Cruz. I was getting information on a certified used vehicle in chat. He was friendly at first until I started asking about the out the door price and for details on the taxes, title and fees. He said he was going to email me the details, he never did. And then he just abruptly ended the chat without any explanation. Not sure it's even worth it to go into the dealership if that's how I'm going to be treated.

Have owned this 2019 Subaru ascent touring model for just
Have owned this 2019 Subaru ascent touring model for just over 2 years. Eye site feature is my fav. Car responds to changing traffic speeds automatically. great in heavy highway traffic. The Subaru service department at my dealership keeps it in tp top shape. I highly highly recommend this car. I'm sure the newer models are even better. - Purchased a Used car

It’s not been a terrible car but not been the best car
It’s not been a terrible car but not been the best car I’ve owned. Depends on where I get gas depends on if it has power to go or feels slogish. Like that you put your foot on gas and it acts like it wants to die but it doesn’t. Also, it has 99,000 miles and for a second time I’m having to get struts, mounts and bearings. That I’ve had to pay for replacing. The first was at 52,000 miles. Also, the passenger side window one day just got a crack in it across the whole window and the very next day the driver side did the same thing. I would say a rock but strangle that a rock hole wasn’t seen. Also, I’ve been told has nothing to do with it but it seems I’ve had more tire problems with this car, I am about to buy a second set for it. So in 5 years and 99,000 I’ve gone through 3 sets of tires. I am the only owner of this car. - Purchased a New car

Don’t buy this car!!
One recall after another . Car slammed on its brakes in the middle of an intersection and so far can’t be replicated so can’t be repaired . Several new transmissions due to recalls and now another recall due to electric system. This has been the WORST car my daughter has ever had and I feel badly because I told them that Subarus were great cars…Constantly in the shop. This is their only car and they have 3 small children . - Purchased a Used car

Still wonderful after 50k miles
Other than normal maintenance & a few recalls, my limited edition Ascent has worked flawlessly, been safe & fun to drive & I have no complaints. This is my third Subaru (Legacy-Forester-Ascent) & they've all been good cars, each progressively better. I definitely recommend this car. - Purchased a New car

Keep Looking
I like Subaru but they should have worked better at designing the Ascent. There are known battery/electrical issues. The stock battery isn’t sufficient to power the vehicle. My battery has died 4 times in 2 years. The Apple Car Play does not work. Subaru offered to replace the media system which they did but it still doesn’t work. Their response was “ya Subaru is meant more for android phones” but if that’s the case why bother adding the Apple Car Play app? There have been numerous recalls including the drive train which seems scary to be driving the car around by chance the drive train will slip. We were notified of the recall 6 months prior to have been able to actually address the problem. Third row has no room so kind of a waste. The interior is nice. Subaru did mention all the cup holders but you can’t really use the ones in the drivers or passenger doors. No room for a normal sized drink only for a tiny water bottle. I chose the limited because the touring only had that poop brown interior available and I wanted black/gray. Does drive smooth and love the Harmen Karmen speaker system. But overall I’m tired of the unreliability of the car. I just don’t want another car payment so I guess I’m stuck with this one. I’ll probably replace the radio screen with an after market one so my Apple car play actually works. - Purchased a New car

Good car, awful gas mileage
I have the touring edition and cannot get over 16mpg average in the city. It is supposed to be 20. I like the look and I like to drive but the gas mileage is terrible - Purchased a Used car

Really like the 2019 Ascent except 3rd row room
I really like the 2019 Subaru Ascent Limited. I only have a couple of problems. I get complaints from my teenage daughters that the third row seats are so uncomfortable. Not enough room they say. They love the room in my wife’s Honda Pilot more. Another thing that I could do without is the X-Term feature. I never use it and to use it you have to be going slow. I’m not taking my Ascent into the woods or driving in some desolate snowy terrain. Kind of seems useless for what a majority of drivers would really need, i.e. different driving modes instead (mud, snow, etc.) - Purchased a New car
