(car engine starting) Volvo redesigned its flagship sedan and gave it a new name, the S90, a nameplate we haven't seen here since 1998. Well, get ready to bust out the Brandy and Monica, cause the S90 is back and it's pretty stunning.
Lot of cool elements up front here, check out this grill. A lot of cars have upright grills, the S90's actually bows inward a little bit, kinda neat. Out here, Thor's hammer headlights, now signature from Volvo, T-shaped LEDs, similar to the ones on the new XC90. Little bit of busyness going on with the bumper openings, but a lot more controversy in back where there's hook-shaped tail lights that sit well below the deck lid. I don't know if I like it or not. See if you do. Like the XC90, the S90 has a lot of impressive stuff inside in terms of both technology and materials. Real leather wrapping along the dashboard, things like an available Orrefors crystal gear shift here. Lots of displays here, a large center display very fast, very quick-acting. It has pinch and swipe motions for the map and other menu screens, virtual gauges here. We don't know how much of this is standard versus optional. We won't know that until full pricing comes out, but overall in this car, very nice. Wouldn't be a Volvo without new safety features and a new large animal detection system debuts on the S90. It gives you alerts and even brake assist. So, you know, maybe you'll moose it. The new S90 goes on sale early this summer. Stay tuned for more. (car trunk thunks)
