In case you haven't heard, Jaguar is not just a luxury car brand anymore, it's also a luxury SUV brand. First came the F-Pace, a sales success since it's been out. And now, comes the all new E-Pace. The F-Pace's smaller, little brother.
Pretty aggressive, simple face on the E-Pace, not a lot of busy-ness going on. And we like this. There's basically four major openings here along the front. You've got your grill and you've got kind of these three lower openings here, two along the side, one right here in the middle. Blade like headlights. Pretty easy to mistake this for the larger F-Pace, but you won't do that when you get along the side because the E-Pace is small. It's actually about 16 inches shorter bumper to bumper versus the F-Pace. Now, like the F-Pace, the E-Pace has a very aggressive roof line and that limits your visibility straight back. The rear window here really kind of pinned between those two head restraints in the second row. Just not a great view at your six o'clock. Overall space though doesn't seem that much more confined than in the F-Pace. Adults should have room to stretch out. I'm six feet tall and this is where I'd sit to drive. Not really too confining to me overall. Lots of cool styling here. Reminds us a lot of the F-Type, which is Jaguar's sports car. Big, simple dials here for the climate controls. A very cool little kind of toggle switch here for the drive mode selector. Still plenty of room for all you SUV owners. If you need to throw stuff up here, you know, parking passes or what have you, there's a big old tray here ahead of the gear shift. A cool kind of wraparound material here with stitching kind of extends all the way up from over here underneath the gear shift. That's straight off the F-Type. There's a 10 inch screen up here. That is a standard feature for the multimedia system. Optional 12 inch virtual gauges replaced the physical dials here. Unfortunately, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay still unavailable in the E-Pace. Now, the back seats in most small luxury SUV, aren't exactly generous. And that's kind of the case here with the E-Pace, but there is enough room. That's where I'd sit to drive. As you can see, I've got a little bit of knee clearance leftover here. Reasonably high seating position, not too low, like I'm squatting on the floor. And okay headroom as long as I don't lean all the way back. Where the other shoe drops a little bit though is in cargo capacity. About 24 cubic feet of space back there. That's about 30% less than in the F-Pace, which has 33 and a half cubic feet. Now, the E-Pace comes with a turbocharged four cylinder engine, good for 246 or 296 horsepower, depending which version you get. Now, those versions start right around $40,000. We're told a fully loaded E-Pace with all the bells and whistles we'll top out right around $60,000. It's on sale now. So, stay tuned for our driving impressions soon.
