Mazda’s best-selling vehicle — by more than three times, as it were — the Mazda CX-5 SUV, only got more attractive for the 2020 model year. In fact, for shoppers considering the CX-5 for their next vehicle purchase, we recommended opting for the 2020 version over the outgoing one at a price increase ranging from $270 to $895 depending on trim level. For the extra cash, you’ll get more standard safety features and reduced road noise. The CX-5’s popularity carries over into our roster of most popular Cars.com news articles this week, with our full rundown on what’s changed for the new model year taking the No. 1 spot — outpacing even the mighty Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Yes, coming in an unlikely second place to a nice-but-normal family hauler is the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Admittedly, if you’re finna drop $75,000 to $100,000 on your weekend-warrior muscle car, our criticisms of things like the GT500’s entry-level-grade interior appointments might seem like splitting the very finest of hairs. Still, it is our duty to tell you the good, the bad and the ugly — even when it might elicit a “Cool story, bro” for our trouble — as we do in our rapid-fire rundown of things we like and don’t like about this fire-breathing pony car. So while we lauded the ’Stang’s precedent-setting power, 0-60-mph capability, lightning-quick shifting, everyday livability, track prowess and exterior styling, we’d be remiss not to grouse about that interior, that jaw-dropping price and the fact that we’d prolly buy a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette instead.
