2012 BMW Lineup: Ch-Ch-Changes

2012 1 Series
All models get a standard USB adapter as standard equipment. Power and lumbar support is now standard on the 135i coupe and convertible. Seventeen- and 18-inch wheels are now standard on the 128i convertible and 135i convertible, respectively. A center rear pass-through is now standard on the 128i/135i convertible models.
A 2012 BMW 1 Series M coupe is new for the model year.
An automatic transmission is now a no-cost option on the 128i coupe and convertible; previously, it was a $1,375 option. The price of the double-clutch transmission on the 135i coupe and convertible has been lowered.
BMW raised the price of rear parking sonar on all 1 Series models to establish consistency with the price of this option on other BMW models.
The 2012 1 Series starts at $30,950 for the coupe and $36,600 for the convertible, respectively. The model is already on sale.
2012 3 Series
All BMW 3 Series trims (excluding the 335d) are now offered with an automatic transmission as a no-cost option; previously, it was $1,375. The price of the double-clutch transmission on the 335i coupe and convertible has been lowered.
The price has been lowered on the M Sport Package, which features light-alloy wheels, an M sport chassis, chrome exhaust pipes and Alcantara/cloth upholstery. A separate sport appearance package is no longer available.
All 3 Series coupe models with all-wheel drive now come with standard 17-inch all-season tires.
2012 7 Series
A sport steering wheel, rearview camera and USB adapter now come standard on all models. Nineteen-inch wheels with all-season tires and a premium stereo are now standard on all 7 Series equipped with a V-8.
Additional Package Changes
- Driver Assistance Package now includes side and front-end cameras. On the 740i/Li and 750i/Li and xDrive models, the package includes a head-up display unit.
- M Sport Package no longer includes an active suspension system designed to reduce body roll while cornering, known as Active Roll Stabilization, as standard equipment.
2012 ActiveHybrid 7
A USB adapter is now standard on all models. The black headliner, leather dashboard, head-up display and active and ventilated front seats have been removed.
2012 X3
The 2012 X3 is all new for the model year. An M Sport Package is now available. There’s a discount when the new appearance package is combined with the Dynamic Handling Package.

2012 X5
A telematics system, USB adapter, high-end stereo and cargo cover are now standard. LED rings in the headlights are also standard on all models.
Roof rails are standard on most trims now. Tinted glass is standard on all diesel and V-8-equipped models. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic controls has been added to the diesel-equipped models.
Lumbar support, auto-dimming rearview mirror, parking sonar, ambient lighting, heated front seats and a power liftgate are now standard on the X5 xDrive35i Premium, X5 xDrive35i SAV, X5 xDrive 35d and X5 xDrive50i.
The X5 M gets a standard power liftgate and USB adapter, too.
Additional Package Changes
- Premium and Convenience packages now include a rearview camera and navigation system.
- Weather Package now includes heated rear seats.
- Technology Package includes head-up display, automatic high beams and side-view camera.
2012 X6
A USB adapter, telematics system, auto-dimming mirror, tinted glass, ambient lighting and heated front seats are now standard (including on the X6 M). There’s now a five-seater option on the X6 by removing center rear console.
Additional Package Changes
- Cold Weather Package now includes heated rear seats.
- Technology Package includes head-up display, automatic high beams and side-view camera.
- Premium Package now includes rearview camera, navigation system, four-zone climate control and rear manual sunshades.
2012 Z4
An automatic transmission is now offered at no extra charge on the 30i. The price of the double-clutch transmission has been lowered.
