The problem: When the key is in the center of the console storage area under the climate control module, one of the following messages appears in the instrument cluster’s driver info display:
Key not in vehicle
Remote key not recognized
This is due to the remote key being too close to the Aerial 1 receiver for Access and Start Authorization, which is under the center console area, directly under the climate control module.
Corrective action: Dealers will perform a software update in the Keyless Control Unit to eliminate this problem.
Warranty info: This service bulletin is being done free of charge under Audi’s new-vehicle warranty.
