2020 Mazda CX-30: Everything You Need to Know
Mazda’s 2020 CX-30 is an all-new subcompact SUV that slides into the Mazda SUV lineup between the CX-3 and CX-5 as easily as it can fit into a tight city parking spot. Not as easily as the very small CX-3 subcompact, perhaps, but the bigger CX-30 is nevertheless city-sized while providing more room to appeal more broadly to U.S. buyers than the Euro-sized CX-3.

The CX-30 — which is about an inch wider and about 5 inches longer than the CX-3 — is based on the redesigned Mazda3 compact car, sharing its platform, tech and much of the interior design. It’s an SUV with the above-class style and good driving manners you’d expect from Mazda, but also multimedia tech that still needs some work. The CX-30 will take on competition in the increasingly crowded subcompact SUV class that includes the also all-new 2021 Kia Seltos as well as sales leaders such as the Honda HR-V and Nissan Rogue Sport.
The CX-30 is powered by a 186-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard safety tech includes a front collision prevention system with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane departure warning and a driver attention alert. A blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is available.
