Vehicles Affected: Approximately 700 model-year 2020 Mini Hardtop, Cooper and Cooper S hatchbacks

The Problem: The rear side trim panels may have been assembled without a crash pad, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a side impact.

The Fix: Dealers will install crash pads for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mini will begin notifying owners Oct. 16. Owners can call Mini at 866-825-1525, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
