The 2023 BMW Z4 roadster enters the new model year on a high note with freshened exterior accents, some tweaks to its packaging and new prices of $53,795 for the base sDrive30i and $66,295 for the M40i (prices include $995 destination).
As far as major changes go, the M Sport Package is now standard and emphasizes the Z4’s wide stance with a restyled grille and side air intakes. Also drawn from the M Sport Package and now standard are an M leather steering wheel, sport seats, pedals and dashboard upholstery.
Elsewhere, buyers can choose a newly optional 19-inch alloy wheel design that has a matte-black finish and diamond-polished edges, and an M Shadowline Lights Package — available with optional adaptive LED headlights — adds darkened accents for the exterior lighting. There are also three new colors for 2023: Thundernight Metallic, Skyscraper Grey Metallic and Portimao Blue Metallic. Inside, the cabin continues to feature a 10.3-inch infotainment system with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
Performance also remains unchanged. The base sDrive30i is powered by a 255-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and the more powerful M40i comes with a 382-hp, turbo 3.0-liter inline-six; both are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. On fuel economy, the sDrive30i achieves an EPA-rated 25/33/28 mpg city/highway/combined; the M40i gets 23/31/26 mpg.
