The issue concerns the high-voltage battery, which may fail and cause a fire. A fire can increase the risk of injury. Owners are advised to only charge their vehicles to a maximum of 80% capacity until a repair has been completed.

That remedy is still currently in the works. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk will be mailed Dec. 18; additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. In the meantime, owners can contact Audi at 800-253-2834 (its number for this recall is 93SK), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
