Honda is recalling more than 294,600 examples of its Pilot SUV plus vehicles from its luxury Acura arm over an issue with the fuel injection electronic control unit that may result in an engine stall or a loss of power.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2021-25 Acura TLX Type S sedans and model-year 2022-25 MDX Type S SUVs, as well as model-year 2023-25 Pilot SUVs. The fuel injection ECU settings may have been improperly programmed, causing sudden changes in the throttle that could illuminate the check-engine light and cause a loss of drive power or stall; this can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
As a fix, dealers will reprogram the fuel injection ECU software for free. Honda will begin notifying owners March 17. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 888-234-2138 (Honda’s numbers for this recall are EL1 and AL0), call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
