Ford is recalling more than 387,900 examples of its Explorer and related Lincoln Aviator SUVs over an issue with the second-row seats that may cause them to move unexpectedly.

Affected vehicles include certain model-year 2020-26 Explorers and model-year 2020-27 Aviator SUVs previously recalled in June 2025. The switch for the easy-entry second-row outboard seats may bind or stick, causing the seats to unlatch, tip or slide unexpectedly. A seat that moves unexpectedly may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the bezel around the seat switch for free. Interim owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 27; additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, likely in January 2027. Those with further questions can contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 26S52), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
