With the Key In-Car Delivery service, Amazon shoppers can select in-car delivery upon checkout and choose a four-hour delivery window. Amazon says delivery time is usually between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the two-day shipping option, and between 5 and 9 p.m. for same-day delivery. Shoppers must have the key app downloaded and park in a publicly accessible area.
On delivery day, shoppers will receive a notification confirming the four-hour delivery window and another notification when the driver is approaching the vehicle. The vehicle is then unlocked via the app, and the driver places the package inside and relocks the vehicle. Customers will get a final notification once the delivery is complete.
Aside from the remote lock/unlock features of AcuraLink, the system offers other functions like access to cloud-based information and music, the ability to make service appointments, vehicle remote start and stolen vehicle location, as well as roadside service and automatic collision notifications. Several versions of the subscription service are available, including a free trial.
Acura is the latest automaker to pair with Amazon for the in-car delivery service. It’s also available on model-year 2015 and newer GM and Volvo vehicles, select model-year 2017 and later Ford vehicles, as well as select model-year 2018 and newer Lincoln and Honda vehicles. Amazon is currently offering shoppers a $10 gift card after placing their first Key In-Car Delivery order.
