Ford is unveiling a micro-concept at the Beijing auto show in China. Called the Start, the hatchback is a look at the direction Ford’s global small cars might take. Ford doesn’t sell its smallest cars — namely the Ka — in the U.S. The Fiesta going on sale this summer will be the smallest, and it’s much larger than the Ka or the Start.
However, we like the forward-thinking look of the Start and the wraparound glass. Ford also says the Start is packing a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. One trend we’re hearing that will be prevalent at least in global markets is smaller three-cylinder engines. BMW and Ford now seem to be at the forefront of that trend.
