Gosh, This Kia SUV Debuting in L.A. Sure Looks an Awful Lot Like the Seltos

Kia will reveal an SUV at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, and while the South Korean automaker has played coy with the SUV’s name and other details, the latest teaser image sure looks like the Seltos, a subcompact SUV — think Honda HR-V — that is currently available in multiple Asian markets.

The strongest hint of what the new SUV might be comes from its front lighting setup, which seems to share the distinctive four-element headlights, vertical three-element foglamps and marker lights with the existing Seltos. The front styling of the teased SUV does seem to differ ever so slightly, however, with a larger air intake below the grille. (That may also just be a result of the shadowy teaser image.)

The production Seltos shares a wheelbase with the Soul, Kia’s fun and funky hatchback/wagon/crossover, but has a much more traditional SUV body that some buyers may find more appealing. The teased SUV also has what looks to be fairly conventional lines and styling, though most of it is hidden in shadow.

We’ll have to wait until the full reveal of Kia’s new SUV to tell you just what it is. That will take place Nov. 20, and if you’re interested, you can watch the live reveal here. We’ll have our experts there ready to give you all the details and their impressions of Kia’s latest model, as well as all the other new and updated cars at the L.A. Auto Show, so be sure to check back often.
