What’s New for the 2025 BMW i4?
With the rear-wheel-drive eDrive35 variant discontinued in March 2024, the base 2025 i4 eDrive40 and xDrive40 now include heated front seats and wireless charging as standard, and all variants now get eSIM 5G connectivity. For the i4 M50, the Driving Assistance Package, which adds adaptive cruise control, is now available.
For the new model year, BMW has eliminated the Convenience Package, as features like lumbar support are now standard, and the Premium Package now includes BMW’s Iconic Sounds Electric, adding artificial engine sounds to enhance the driving experience. The i4’s interior also features new open-pore wood trim and leather options, while exterior color options now include Vegas Red Metallic and Cape York Green Metallic, replacing Sunset Orange and San Remo Green.
Trim Levels and Features
The 2025 i4 eDrive40 comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen running BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 system. Standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a power liftgate, LED headlights and 18-inch wheels. Heated front seats, lumbar support and synthetic leather upholstery are included, with real leather available as an upgrade. Standard safety equipment includes automatic high beams, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitors, lane departure warning, traffic-sign recognition and rear cross-traffic alert. Available options include a head-up display, ventilated front seats, a Harman Kardon sound system and the Driving Assistance Professional Package, which adds adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering and traffic jam assist.
The i4 xDrive40 builds on the eDrive40’s equipment with the addition of all-wheel drive, variable sport steering and an adaptive suspension, but it otherwise shares the same standard features as the eDrive40.
The i4 M50 xDrive is the most performance-focused variant, featuring M Sport seats, an adaptive M suspension, 19-inch wheels and upgraded brakes. It also includes design elements such as darkened exterior trim, a three-spoke sport steering wheel, adaptive LED headlights and a rear spoiler. The Premium Package remains available.
Powertrain Specs and Range
The i4 eDrive40 features a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 335 horsepower and 317 pounds-feet of torque with an EPA-estimated range of 295-318 miles, depending on wheel size. BMW says it accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds.
The i4 xDrive40 adds a second motor for AWD, increasing output to a combined 396 hp and 443 pounds-feet and cutting the 0-60 mph time to 4.9 seconds. The added performance slightly reduces range for an estimated 268-287 miles.
The i4 M50 remains the performance variant, using a dual-motor AWD system with a total of 536 hp and 586 pounds-feet of torque. It’s the quickest version, reaching 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, but has the shortest range at 227-267 miles.
