What’s Changed for 2027?
Though the biggest update for 2027 is the change of transmission for FWD variants, Chevrolet also made a minor appearance update for the 2027, replacing Cacti Green with a new Autumn Harvest Metallic exterior color.
Outside of those updates, Chevrolet leaves much of the Equinox unchanged. The engine, safety tech, interior dimensions and brakes all carry over from 2026. AWD versions already featured an eight-speed automatic transmission and see few changes for 2027 beyond the price increase.
Fuel Economy
The 2027 Equinox continues to be powered by a 175-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 pounds-feet of torque. FWD remains standard with AWD available.
The transmission change slightly affects fuel economy for front-drive models. Chevrolet says city fuel economy falls from 26 mpg to 25 mpg, while combined fuel economy decreases from 27 mpg to 26 mpg. Ratings for AWD models are unchanged. (Official EPA estimates are not yet available.)
Standard or Optional Features
The 2027 Equinox comes standard with more than 15 safety and driver-assistance features. Included is Chevrolet Safety Assist, which bundles automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assistance with lane departure warning, forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator and automatic high beams.
The entry-level LT includes an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 11-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, remote start, and available heated front seats and steering wheel. Available features include an AutoSense power liftgate, a 360-degree camera system and a panoramic sunroof.
The RS and Activ build on the LT with additional styling and upgrades. Both trims feature wireless phone charging, available ventilated front seats, a garage door opener, rain-sensing wipers and dual-zone automatic climate control. The RS features black exterior accents, standard 19-inch and available 20-inch machined wheels, and synthetic leather seats. The Activ adopts a uniquely tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, and synthetic leather and sueded microfiber seating surfaces.
Versus the Competition
While pricing increases modestly for 2027, the Equinox remains competitive with 2026 rivals while offering a newly standard eight-speed automatic transmission on FWD models.
