Hyundai has issued a recall for more than 26,100 examples of its sporty Veloster hatchback over an issue with the rear parking sensor that could lead to a fire.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2012-13 Velosters. The issue is with the reverse park aid sensor, which could develop an electrical short circuit as a result of high-conductive liquid leaking into it from an insufficiently sealed printer circuit board within the sensor. An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the reverse park aid fuse and sensor, as necessary, for free. Owners will be notified April 29, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 242), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
