Stellantis Recalls 131,000-Plus Ram 1500s Over Powertrain Software Issue
An issue with the powertrain control module software has prompted Stellantis to recall 131,700 of its Ram 1500 pickup trucks.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2021 1500s equipped with the 5.7-liter eTorque mild-hybrid V-8 engine. The powertrain control module software may cause the fuel mixture condition in the engine to be overly rich, resulting in the engine shutting down. An unexpected loss of power while driving increases the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will update the software for free. Owner notification letters will be sent June 2, but those with further questions can contact Ram parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 37A), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
