Last week, PickupTruck.com wrote an interesting article on Suzuki bringing a midsize pickup based on the Nissan Frontier to market. Today, official word came from Nissan that it will indeed build the Suzuki-branded truck at its Smyrna, Tenn., plant sometime in 2008.
PickupTruck.com states that the new truck — a trademark search discovered the name Equator, although that could just as easily not be the name — will debut at the Chicago Auto Show in early February.
Midsize trucks haven’t been setting the sales world on fire lately, but Suzuki feels it can sell the vehicle to fans of its ATVs and motorcycles who are looking for a capable truck to tow their toys. There hasn’t been any glimpse of the design, but we expect it to look similar to the XL7 SUV shown above.
