Swamp Thing: Ford Debuts 2022 Bronco Everglades

Ford is adding another version of its Bronco SUV for 2022 with the debut of the Everglades special edition. Featuring a mix of existing Bronco features and new equipment, like an air-intake snorkel, the Bronco Everglades will be offered in the SUV’s four-door body style. It’s set to arrive at dealerships this summer with a starting price of $54,495, including destination, making it the second-priciest Bronco behind the new-for-2022 Bronco Raptor. Existing Bronco reservation holders can place an Everglades order starting in March.

Everglades-specific exterior features include a gray grille with gloss-black Bronco lettering, a front bumper-mounted Warn winch, special graphics on the front fenders, and squared wheel arches and fender extensions rather than the rounded ones you see on other Broncos. The factory-installed snorkel is a first for Ford, and it includes interchangeable plates that control whether air enters from the front or back. Five exterior colors are available: Desert Sand, Eruption Green, Area 51, Shadow Black and Cactus Gray.

Everglades features that are also available on other Bronco models include a heavy-duty front bumper, a front steel bash plate and rock rails. The Everglades also gets the SUV’s Sasquatch Package, which includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires, a high-clearance suspension and electronic locking front and rear differentials. The Everglades can ford up to 3 feet of water, according to Ford.
Power comes from the Bronco’s base engine, a 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder; Ford didn’t say whether the Bronco’s 330-hp, turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 would be offered here. (Note, both power ratings are achieved on premium fuel.) The engine works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the Everglades’ four-wheel-drive system has a 67.8:1 crawl ratio.

Inside, the Everglades gets the 12-inch touchscreen that’s also available in other Broncos. There are also vinyl seats and a rubberized floor for easier cleaning, as well as Urban Green accents on the grab handles, air vents and seats.
