What’s the Best New-Car Deal for the End of 2024?

The time is nigh when we once again can turn the corner of another calendar year, laying to rest 2024 and setting ourselves up afresh for 2025. But before you hit the gym swearing this is the year you stick to your resolution of a regular Russian kettle bell routine, it’d behoove you not to rush the old year out too quickly lest you overlook something sweet in the year’s last moments — particularly when it comes to new-car incentives. (We can talk about our New Year’s resolutions later.)

Indeed, even a casual look around automaker websites suggests cash-back offers and other financing incentives are more pervasive than they’ve been in recent memory. As the latest automotive sales report from J.D. Power details, there’s a reason for that: Both sales and inventory levels have increased, with vehicles sitting on lots an average of 18 days longer than they were a year ago. What that means for you as a shopper is that incentives also are up as automakers try to clear out old inventory and make way for new (or simply more desirable) models. It’s a rosy picture for anyone in the market as the year wraps up.
Still, sifting through a December to Remember or Get Holiday Ready or Red Tag “sales event” to try and find the best deal is more work than usual this year. That’s why we’ve done it for you: Below are three vehicles with the best pure cash-back offers we found if you want to keep the change, you filthy animal.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica

- Factory discount: $3,500-$5,500
- Approximate price after savings: $38,000-$56,500
- Approximate factory savings: 7%-11%

Chrysler’s family hauler was a good deal for Black Friday, but if you missed out on that, don’t sweat it: Through the new year, the Stellantis brand is offering savings of up to $5,500 on certain trims in the regions we surveyed. Alternatively, shoppers can find financing of 4.9% for up to 72 months across the board, also good through Jan. 2.

2024 Hyundai Tucson

- Factory discount: $1,750-$2,500
- Approximate price after savings: $27,000-$37,500
- Approximate factory savings: 5%-6%
- Offer ends: Jan. 2
Hyundai’s compact SUV got a substantial redesign for 2022, but minor tweaks for 2025 mean the 2024 version isn’t substantially different … and that means it’s worth investigating if purchasing a vehicle in the competitive compact SUV class is in your future. Rare is the occasion when one of these vehicles gets a discount of any kind given how thirsty people are for them, but the South Korean automaker is offering up to $2,500 off certain trims in the regions we surveyed. If you opt to go the financing route, 0% for up to 48 months is available through Jan. 2.

Editor’s Choice: 2024 Ram 1500

- Factory discount: $6,212-$13,148
- Approximate price after savings: $35,000-$74,500
- Approximate factory savings: 15%
- Offer ends: Jan. 2
Another Stellantis brand with substantial savings to be found is Ram, whose 1500 light-duty pickup truck is a favorite of ours, particularly in its upper-level Tungsten configuration. There wasn’t much that was changed for 2025 over 2024 other than the discontinuation of the Hemi V-8 engine, so the current offer of 15% off all trims except the performance TRX variant remains our editor’s choice. In lieu of the cash-back offer, qualified buyers can find financing of 0.9% for up to 72 months. As with the others, all such offers expire Jan. 2.

How We Look for Deals
To help car shoppers find the best deals for the end of 2024, we lead with cash offers available to shoppers at large, not those that require financing with the automaker or having certain qualifications (e.g., military or college-graduate discounts, loyalty or conquest bonuses, etc.). In calculating the overall percentage discount and pricing after incentives, we focus on the vehicle’s price range from the cheapest incentives-eligible trim level with no factory options to the priciest eligible trim with all factory options. We include the destination charge in such pricing, but we exclude a few other items: taxes and fees, which vary considerably by region, and dealer accessories, which vary considerably by automaker.
Because these are factory discounts, they should be available to all participating dealers. As such, use them as the starting point for negotiations, not a reason to skip haggling altogether.
Incentives data come from automakers’ websites. Remember, our numbers are current as of publication for the markets we survey (generally Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and New York). They reflect advertised customer discounts, not unadvertised factory-to-dealer cash. Discount financing typically requires qualifying credit, too, and incentives may vary by region and trim level; automakers may also change them later in the window of relevance. In sum: Your discounts may vary, so check with your local dealer for specifics.
